BMW R75/6's are awesome bikes. BMW made the /6's in 1974, 75 and 76. All three years were visually the same, however the 1976's received several updates and are therefore more desirable in my opinion. The improvements made are all outlined in Ian Falloon's excellent book BMW Air Cooled Boxer Twins 1950-1996. (The Restorers Guide) . See pages 55 and 56 for the details. The book is a little hard to find but they occasionally pop up for sale. Some of the updates/improvements include deeper sump oil pan, cylinders sealed with Hylomar compound, cylinder heads with updated rockers and R90S valve guides. Also the US R75/6's had a lower final drive and an R90/6 automatic ignition advance unit. Lots of improvements in 1976.
