I'm noticing a trend with 1800's that tasteful resto-mods are not frowned upon as much anymore. It used to be that any change from stock was sacrilege, as all my Volvo buddies told me when I bought my SBC powered 122S. All this old Swedish iron was ahead of its time, and mixing and matching the best of it all is a very very good thing. I've owned a Jensen P1800 and the dash was the best part of a very lovely car. Now that I have the 1800ES I always wanted, it may just need an early dash swap. I'll probably skip the small bock and leave the B20/M41 tho. @welove3 I also have a spare set of HIF 6's and manifold. Perfect when set up properly IMO, and much preferable to a downdraft Weber, but I'm picking nits here. It is readily available already cut and glued together to fit. That said, it might be a 10hp gain over the stock (for a carbureted B20) SU HS6 pair. Probably more than 10hp given other mods to take advantage of the big carburetors. I do like the early 1800\u2019s with blue /chrome gauges, and I also like the later 1800E with black gauges, fuel injection, locking steering column and better wiring with comprehensive fuse box inside the car. They are 2 distinct variations of the very cool 1800 series. Taking all the later stuff away and bringing back the key breaking ignition switch and coil assembly, changing to the old Lucas switches (\u201861-\u201867), moving fuses with custom wiring into the engine bay, converting to downdraft weber carb with manual choke on the passenger side, just seems a shame to do to an 1800E. At least the split \u201cY\u201d brake system is still in place. It would be easier to get a red \u201967 or \u201868S and swap the brake system. The biggest concern, clearly pointed out in the pics, should be the paint bubbling in the rockers and rear valance. And what is a 140 gas pedal doing in an 1800? Sorry, not a fan of these personal choices, though the implementation is nicely done and very clean, and the presentation is also well done. If you like these choices, you should be happy with this car.
