I heard about the 328 from a friend who is a former Ferrari Club chapter president. His brother was acquainted with an attorney representing the seller/widow of (reportedly) the original owner. I was told William Baker (denoted in the owner's manual) was the owner of the selling dealer, Bob Sharp Motors, and for some reason his name appeared in the owner's manual as opposed to Mr. Mignogna. I have no documentation to support this story but, in any event, the 328 was in long term ownership by Mr. Mignogna and had sat for a number of years after his passing. Finally ready to let go, the widow, Ms. Mignogna, enlisted her family attorney to sell the car. After a delicate negotiation and our repeated assurances that we would do the car right by enlisting a top Ferrari specialist (Tim Stanford) to bring her back to proper running order and prepare her for The Cavallino, she sold me her beloved Ferrari. \r\n\r\nI decided to wait for the 2020 Cavallino as the 328 was one of the featured models celebrating its 35th Anniversary and doing so would afford us plenty of time to prepare and sort the car with, candidly, many unknowns. I happened to be down in Ft. Lauderdale for work Sept 2018, so I had the pleasure of meeting Tim Stanford in person at his shop to come up with a game plan. Walking into his shop, I immediately knew I was in the right place.\r\n\r\nTim methodically went through inspection and servicing of the mechanical systems over the course of several months, Spring/Summer 2019. When Tim was able to get her running with relative ease, I knew we were well on our way. The entire recommissioning was smooth as we could hope for with no real surprises. We decided we should save the original tires as mounted on the original rims (with original factory mounted weights) for Cavallino show presentation and to corroborate the vehicle mileage. And so a 2nd set of rims and tires was procured for driving. Towards the end of August 2019, the 328 came back to my warehouse in Ormond Beach (Daytona area) for my road testing and until the time neared for the Cavallino. Seeing no major issues, we shipped her back to Tim several weeks prior to the Cavallino for some final sorting and a full detail by the best detailer in S. The highlights were the judges noting and taking reference photos of the wheel weights (we displayed with the original 1986 tires and factory installed wheel weights) and the key ring tie with factory paint code tag (pic 133). These are small details evidencing the originality and low mileage of this 328. \n\nAt some point during the show, I learned my transporter was not going to arrive in time the next morning to pick up the 328. Kurt at Rossa Corsa was kind enough to offer his nearby warehouse for storage and arranged transport for the next morning. \n\nThat evening at the awards dinner, Tim Stanford and I both were honored with Platinum awards for our respective 328s. Our efforts over the preceding year and a half had paid off and my promise when I purchased the car was fulfilled. \n\nCall it what you will, the next morning was one of those odd goosebumps moments. Walking up to the truck, I see Mignogna Towing emblazoned on truck's back window. I literally double checked the name on the 328's title to make sure I didn't have too much fun the night before and was losing it.
