So I bought a nice original Pacer 15 years ago. First time out I was driving up this big long highway grade and the car kept going slower and slower even though my foot was to the pedal. About a mile up the grade an 18-wheeler pulled to the left and passed me. That was literally the moment I said the original 6-cyl had to go and I dropped in an LS out of a GTO that was nice enough to wrap itself around a tree.\r\n\r\nWith the increased power of the LS I realized just how well a Pacer handles. Starting with the Ford Granada, then the Ford Taurus, then the Chevy Caprice wagon (that within 2 years of being new the paint was delaminating off the car).\n\nWhat a horrible low point in the US auto industry. It was the as the beginning of the end for what had been a industry on top of the world game...
