My US spec 2800 was built in Jan 1970 so they may have spent some time together at the factory. If the title is clean, the work is well executed, and the seller is forthcoming - then you have what you need. Not as common on E3's but E9's are regularly stripped down to nothing, including the removal of said frame rails. They are welded to the inner fenders, the firewall, and the floor pan. They go from the front bumper to the driver's footwell. Unlike an E9, the fenders are bolted to the car most any other post-1970's BMW.\n\nFYI - you can clearly see some of @andyrog's info in the service history pics. I don't know him, but I don't doubt that it was his car and his recollections are correct. From what I remember Jeff telling me at Vintage 2017, he stumbled onto the car in the back lot of an auto body shop, found out who the owner was and made an offer that Andyrog accepted. Jeff owns a BMW repair shop in Atlanta (German Autowerks) and he rescued the 2800 and brought it to it's current state. Jeff had the car for a while and sold it to the current seller. Jeff would have kept the car but due to the 2800 not having AC (essential in Atlanta) he sold it. Andyrog replaced the classic Kenwood stereo I put in the car with a modern unit. I have no idea who painted the grille or replaced the Nardi steering wheel and gearshift knob. I stepped on the brake, the pedal went to the floor, and before I could downshift or think to pull up the e-brake, I had to decide whether to hit the car directly in front of me or try to squeeze in between that car and ones in the left turn lane in order to lessen the impact on a single car. By the time I stopped due to the narrowing space between the two cars, I had hit three cars and was wedged in such that I had to climb out the passenger window.\r\n\r\nThankfully no one was hurt, but the 2800 front end was a mess. I recall both front fenders being badly bent, the front bumper mangled, the grill damaged, and probably more. I was also told that the frame/unibody was bent. I don't know why the brakes failed and didn't try to get that diagnosed after the wreck.\r\n\r\nI suggest contacting Jeff Chang, at German Autowerks in Chamblee, GA for more info. on the extent of damage and repair. https://www.germanautowerksatl.com. I never saw or talked to him again after I sold it to him. He told me he would likely do a resto-mod on it, but obviously decided otherwise. It's also worth noting that by the time the wreck happened, a good bit of the paint had begun crazing, despite my having kept it garaged. It also appears from the current photos that the metal work in the trunk has been painted since my ownership.\r\n\r\nI did enjoy that car and appreciate all the work G-man did on it. It still looks great enough for me to have considered bidding, but I subsequently bought a 1986 911 cabriolet. I still have the BBS wheels, a car cover and a few other bits that Jeff didn't buy from me and would be happy to make sure they find their way back to the car after the auction. When I sold it to him, it still had the wood Nardi wheel and wood shift knob shown in G-man's photo gallery. I have no idea what happened to those. You don't have to believe me but you are welcome to come by and add up my receipts; I have over $37K in receipts over 4 years of restoration not including a bunch of cash work on paint wet sanding, small receipts and other misc. items needed to complete restoration on my e3. Granada is rare on an e3. Not the usual Chamonix, Sahara, Fjord, Malaga, Polaris, Riviera, or Baikal running around.
