There have been three owners of this car, including myself. The first owner was a New York resident . The title was issued 1/09, and the car is titled in NY as a 2008 Custom. They usually determine what year to make it based on the dates of invoices for the various components. \r\nIn 2012, it was registered and titled in California to its second owner, where they call it a SPCNS , or Special Construction. When I purchased the car in 2019, I took the car to the NY State DMV division for specially constructed, custom, or home built vehicles. The process involves a physical inspection of the car , and a review of all relevant paperwork, including the invoices for parts that went into the car, especially the drivetrain. \r\nIf all goes well, New York assigns a state issued VIN, that is seven digits, such as NYxxxxx. \r\nWhen the car went to CA, and went through their process, it was assigned an CA specific VIN, and the obligatory VIN plate was installed. \r\nWhen I titled it through NY State, they kept the California VIN. I dont know exactly why, but I was thankful they did, because by doing so, I avoided the 2\u201d x 6\u201d yellow sticker that they affix to the car, as their version of a VIN plate. And my experience is that they usually do it hastily, with no regard for it being straight, or in a desirable location. So this car kind of lucked out, because the CA tag is actually very presentable, and discreetly located. \r\nI hope this helps anyone who is seriously considering purchasing the car. From my experience, you are a step ahead because this car has been titled several times.
