Some nits to pick\u2014the plastic cover on the left side of the seat base is missing (probably broke 40 years ago since they are so flimsy), wrong shift knob (plain wood is normal), and the 16 inch genuine Alpinas, while beautiful and valuable, are not stock and may contribute to the funny ride height appearance. In fact the stock CSL springs are rather tall so if you put the 14s back on it may look right. We are used to seeing 16s on e9s combined with Carl Nelson lowering springs, so that is why this car with stock springs looks like an outlier. The spare wheel has the correct appearance for an original CSL 14 inch (no extra hole between the lug holes), but you would have to see a date code on the back to confirm 1972 or 73 manufacture. These are fantastic cars to drive, a true driver touring automobile and one of the most beautiful ever built, certainly the most beautiful of all BMW\u2019s. I also own 911 and always have a hard time trying to decide which one to take out for a Sunday drive or on a 1500 mile rally. A #1 CSL is worth $300,000 or more, if you could ever find one, and this one which appears to be a good #2 is worth $235-250,000. The grill is a regular 4-slat CS grill. The CSL kidneys were 5 slate with the 5 slates, black anodized. A niggle but one of the special little items that make these cars unique. As others have mentioned, the Alpinas are incorrect but correct can be found with patience and additional dollars. Of course the dam is misssing but it can be sourced. These cars look good with the original design but they are fragile so that's a good reason to leave off if you're going to be driving it say within the city. As @hbchris mentioned, the ac bracket on the motor and rubber bits on the radiator wall is interesting. These cars are all about the details, so I hope I don't sound like I'm niggling. It's my opinion, we need to maintain the integrity of these super rare cars so they get restored correctly as they come out of the garages in years to come. Regardless of the obvious misses, it's a rare car in a fantastic color with a restored chassis. Theres a lot going for it for sure! No wonder they are the most winningest BMW next to the E30 M3, ever. FYI, Town Pack was pretty much a term used in the UK. It used full bumpers, thick carpet, four electric window and power steering. Virtually all of the first 500 built were RHD, aside from the test run of 169 carb cars in 71. It is worth noting that when the \"boys\" which included Bob Lutz and Paul Rocsh proved to management that could build a Ford beater in Group 2, the Motorsport Division was created. So in theory all CSLs are \"M\" cars and therefore the first 500 \"M\" cars are RHD, TAKE THAT!\r\n\r\nBy the time this car was being put together BMW was running out of parts and you could find any combination of parts. My 2275373 had steel doors and a factory installed AC. It was sold new in Dubai.
