The mid-late 70s were not friendly to Italian manufacturers in particular with new EPA/DOT rules, oil crisis, etc, and sales of the non-traditional Bertone designed V8 used-to-be-a-Dino-but-is-now-a-Ferrari 308GT4 weren\u2019t super hot.\r\n\r\nIt is interesting that this car was repainted as new from the dealer - either the original owner was very particular/demanding and wanted it, or they painted the car in Oro Chiaro with BB trim to get it out the door, as an appeal to those who wished they could buy a 512BB but couldn\u2019t. The third (blue?) 308 GT4 at the show that won the award, was one of the 100% nut and bolt rebuilds from the builder in Florida that specializes in 308 GT4 cars to be used like a daily driver, and it really was a new car, also with some updated components. The younger guy who bought it just thought that it was interesting and drove it like any other car. I heard that rebuild price on your car started at $150,000, and I cannot find them now in 2021 on the internet, and so maybe the owner found another line of work during covid. \r\nhttps://concorso.com/galleries/2019/\r\n\r\nJust for fun, carpetking should post a clearer photo of one of the headlight mounting brackets, which will show the build number. These earlier cars were built so that all of the same pieces stayed with the same chassis, to maintain panel fit. You can find the build number on the frame in the engine compartment, inside both doors, and elsewhere, but the headlight bracket numbers are easy to see when you open the hood.\r\n\r\nI was talking with the owner of this car in 2019, and asked if we could look inside her gas cap door, as my car was missing the rubber bumper stop, and the mega-dollar car had some big industrial part.
