This one looks like a nice rider absolutely. \r\n\r\nThis is a 2000 base model 748 that got the oem cast Brembo Marchesini lookalike wheels in a past life. The small diameter non-adjustable steering head with only 1 spot to mount the steering damper on the frame is the giveaway that this bike started life as a base or \u201c748E\u201d model. \r\n\r\nConfusingly the auction tells us the fork tubes have the Ti-nitride coating when they do not. These forks are the standard Showa units that came on a 748 base. \r\n\r\nYes someone painted the bike and frame black. No 748 ever came like this. Heck they even blacked out the kickstand and rearsets. I\u2019m surprised they didn\u2019t do the swingarm for the 100% \u201cmurdered out\u201d look. \r\n\r\n@Rianf1 no 916 family bike ever came with a red frame. That started with the 999 family. The 748 you\u2019re thinking of (I believe) is the 2002 748S that came with a matte grey body and red wheels. \r\n\r\nIf anyone cares the front axle is misaligned. That prevents you from being able to adjust the compression damping on these forks. Getting the axle aligned properly without the special took is fussy but it can be done.
