Outlaw, I believe was first used as a term for Rod Emory 356 upgraded Porsches'. Magnus Walker popularized the term Outlaw with his own 911 builds perhaps borrowing from Emory as the name of his clothing brand: Urban Outlaw. With regard to Porsche 911's being considered Outlaw or Hot Rodded to me has more to do with the modifications. Being the owner of an backdate '79 911 that I call an Outlaw (https://ibb.co/kMsO1w) to me it has to do with the style and spirit of the Porsche and were Porsche parts used in the upgrade. For example this '68 example has a 3.2 litre motor and many Porsche upgraded features. I do not know if paint color is correct for \u201968 and to me has a little to do with it being called an Outlaw vs Hot Rodded. My 911 has similar Porsche upgrades (3.2, 930 Brakes, RSR Fuchs), but I also have custom fabricated carbon fiber dash, custom fabricated whale tail and front and rear bumpers. The paint was only \u201974 Gelbruen \u2013 aka IROC racing Green (and now on GT3RS called Lizard Green) and the Orange stripes are not factory correct color. The Mirrors are from a 964 vintage. So it\u2019s a blend of performance and style to a certain extent. From that stand point mine is pure Porsche with subtle modifications where the example here has little to no body modifications sans the taillights. I always explain a Outlaw as like putting a new Hemi Hellcat Motor in a \u201969 Challenger where a hot rodded \u201969 Challenger is an upgrade of the 440 Six Pack in the same vintage Challenger.
