My car was purchased from a gentleman who spent considerable time and money taking the car from a track car back to a street car. The engine was rebuilt, a correct interior was sourced, etc...etc. Like this car, mine did not have a lot of miles on it after all the work was done. What I am saying here is that with so few miles on it there are liable to be some sorting issues. I would like the seller to address whether or not the car runs hot. 914-6s are notorious for that. I did not discover that mine ran hot until after several long highway runs. At higher road speeds a low pressure area forms behind the rear window just above the engine grill. It interferes with cooling air flowing into the engine compartment. Secondary external oil coolers are usually required and cost much more than you would think. I am sorting this out on mine now ($$$!!!). I also see there is no rear valance installed under the rear bumper. Is one included? Which doesn't alter your point, of course.\n\n@Rodemarz -- Looks are subjective, but I think you'll find that the consensus is with you there, the 911 is generally regarded as the better looking car.\n\nLegroom is marginally better in my 914 than my wife's 911. Headroom is much better in the 914, even with the roof on. (The sunroof in the 911 probably makes most of the difference.) There is at least twice as much trunk space in the 914, though no \"back seat\" area.\n\nThe 911 has about double the power of the 914, and weighs about a third again as much as the 914. So it very handily out-accelerates my car. (The car in this auction, however, has a 911 engine and would also likely run away from my four-cylinder car.)\n\nBut the handling advantage is *VERY MUCH* in favor of the 914! It changes directions a whole lot better than the 911, so when things get busy it can go through with much more aplomb. Being lighter, it also can make better use of its (smaller) contact patches, so the limit is generally higher.\n\nYou will find very very few people who have driven both a 914 and a 911 who will claim the 911 is better handling.\n\nRemember also that far fewer 914s were made than 911s. Favorite of the bunch? The 914. The 914-6 is a special car. Light, outstanding balance, very responsive. The mid-engine setup, with a wide stance and low center of gravity makes an ideal performance car. Now, a stock six isn't the fastest thing in the world (especially when you live at altitude), but you have that incredible vintage 911 sound. The first time I drove a 914, I immediately saw how Porsche came out and cleaned up at Le Mans over the 911. I don't know how these cars don't trade for more money, especially the sixes, when they only made 3,351 over three model years.
