We are excited to kick this auction off so just wanted to add a few personal thoughts to get this started. We are currently storing and selling this on behalf of the owner, who will be chiming into this auction separately as well. The owner is an avid BMW collector and has spent a lot of time and money on this Bavaria, setting it up as a very lovely daily driver capable car. Ok here goes:\r\n\r\nThe Pros:\r\n- Amazing, original interior - the interior is original and in excellent shape and even has the very rare rear headrests (that were often tossed in these)\r\n- $20k in recent receipts from Jeff Tighe in Costa Mesa, CA, who is a very reputable BMW expert in SoCal. We have included photos of all receipts from him the last couple of years.\r\n- Overall paint and condition are solid. The paint is a repaint of the original Fjord Blue - its not a restoration quality job but its a decent job and the paint presents well. There are some blems and surface rust spots but all are surface and we tried to include photos of the main areas \r\n- Car is ready to be driven and even has bluetooth! We would definitely daily this thing around LA. Comes with all old receipts, original books and records and a CTEK trickle charger.\r\n\r\nCons:\r\n- As mentioned above the paint and body are solid, but a basic repaint job and there are some areas of surface rust/bubbles. Looking at underside, again there are areas of surface rust but nothing beyond that. From the underside photos you might see some areas where there are leaks, but those were the old leaks that the recent work from Jeff addressed.\r\n- The VIN tag that is usually bolted to the engine bay above the paint code sticker is missing. This tag was missing when the current owner purchased but we have verified the VIN number that is both stamped on the bulkhead and steering column (and shown in 2 of the pictures)\r\n- Thats about it, its not a perfect car but a damn solid example that has had a ton of work done to it. Ready to drive and enjoy and the blue/blue combo is amazing in person. An E3! The very car that turned me into a lifelong BMW enthusiast owner. I first saw a 2800 badged E3 in the driveway of a family friend. White on black, replacing the family\u2019s XJ6. I could not stop looking thinking it was gorgeous. And then I had the privilege of driving it, about a hundred miles on a road with sweeping curves. I was an Alfa Giulia Super owner and enthusiast at the time and the 2002s had never sparked desire. But on that drive the car seemingly shrank around me, feeling small, nimble, an extension of the driver. A large family car, yes. But driving it felt like being in a small well tuned car with precise steering and beautiful balance.\r\nI think of the E3 as the car that started one of the most incredible sequences in automotive history: The E9, the E12, the E21, the E23, E24, E28, the E30, E31, E32, E38 and E39. All with a singular vision, being the Ultimate Driving Machine. All beautiful. All a joy to drive. It pains us to sell the Bav as we just got it to where we wanted it. However, we downsized to a smaller garage and it didn't make the cut! We bought this Bavaria because my wife wanted an automatic (our other bimmers are all stick) for daily driving in So Cal, where the traffic isn't kind to the clutch leg. We also made sure the A/C was up to the task of keeping us cool while we listened to the bluetooth modified stereo. No holes were cut for speakers and the interior is in a remarkable state of preservation. Both we and the previous California owner kept the car in a garage. From the paperwork, it appears the car came from Northern California 2 owners before us and was repainted back then. The current paint color is not an exact match to the BMW Fjord Blue but an interestingly similar vibrant shade. The original Fjord paint can be seen to the left of the filler cap in Picture 51. We made the car safe and reliable, and the already strong pulling engine was the icing on the cake. We took it to many cars and coffees and it made an appearance at the BMWCCA flight line at the Lyons Air Museum this past summer. Look for its cameo behind the coupes under the B25 in the latest Roundel! We have tried to represent the car as it is through all the pictures/videos, and The Motoring Club is helping us sell it, so it can be seen there. I think the e21 323 was a superb car and even the 320, with upgraded suspension, is a wonderful car that taught me a great deal about driving. Could its rear end surprise you? But finding its limit was a real joy and unlike the E30 it never lulled you into believing you are the best driver in the world. Just wanted to give one quick update in full disclosure that we have noticed a small transmission fluid leak that is producing a small spot on the floor when parked for a few days. The last trans work from 2019 did not replace the gaskets so we think that it could use a gasket replacement to stop this bit of seepage. In these, the pan gasket can be a common leak and ATF can leak out of the speedo cable. I'll take and post some pictures of where the ATF is coming from and what the spot looks like for your reference.
