They are expensive to repair but don't break down much. In over two years of ownership, I have done the oil, the brake fluid, and replaced the pumps/struts that hold open doors, hood, and trunk. Not costly. Hagerty insurance is around $600 a year in Mass. I hesitated in buying mine but am glad I did. This seems to be a very well cared for '06. Manual is clearly the sought after transmission choice for many, the top dog Linn stereo system is present here, along with the optional 15 spoke rims, and the mahogany inserts that are a must (got to have wood in a British automobile!) Nice to see the top in great shape, along with leather, wood, and the umbrella and charger present. Reasonably newer tires a plus. For me, owning a V12 Aston has been a great experience. They are the prettiest cars from the 2000s and they coddle their drivers in leather. They are also pretty robust cars, and hold up well with regular maintenance and replacement of any failed or old parts. But like a Patek, know the relationship you are entering. Use only AM or OEM supplier parts, and follow the service schedules, best with an independent that knows Astons (annual service at an AM dealer is an eye watering $2600 to change fluids and simply check components -$2k of which is labor). For me, understanding that most of the vehicle's systems are fairly straightforward means I do much of the work myself, such as the brakes, refinishing the wood, etc. Check out Steve McEvoy's Aston 1936.com for great insight on servicing the car. I bought our \u201807 DB9 6-spd when our kids were 9, 8 and 3. They sat on an inflatable booster product called a \u2018BubbleBum\u2019.. which were the just right size for the seats. That was 8 enjoyable years ago. The kids have long since grown out of the back seat, but I have had no disappointments. One quirk is it can vapor-lock *after* shutdown on a super hot day. It won\u2019t quit as long as it\u2019s running, but once it\u2019s turned off, the restart will crank but not fire. So on any day 95F or up, I\u2019ll find some shade when I park it, and/or open the hood to let it cool. Doesn\u2019t take much time, I\u2019ve never been stranded. Other \u201cBritish\u201d things are the odd procedure to save seat and mirror positions to memory. It\u2019s just weird. Pay attention to advice in the owner\u2019s manual - run the AC regularly to keep it healthy: If the AC system ends up needing service, the dash has to come out. @mbelliss1 is spot on. A good independent shop takes care of mine. I treat the leather every year, 17 years old and the aroma of wood and leather is still intoxicating. On the performance end, I can push it hard enough to embarrass my Porsche, Ferrari and Lambo friends who assume they can out-run me.. and at the end of a drive, I\u2019ve noticed it\u2019s the DB9 which attracts more attention from women. I\u2019d treat it every month if not garaged. I\u2019ve gone to a tack shop and bought a leather Wash spray, plus a Conditioner & Restorer by a company called Leather Therapy. It\u2019s fine. I\u2019ve also used Meguiar\u2019s Gold Class Rich Leather product, and it\u2019s perhaps a bit more light-weight. For cleaning dirt, especially on light colors, use TEC260 Leather Cleaner by Technician\u2019s Choice. It is excellent. \n My position is to provide the leather *any* kind of conditioning .. any product helps, you just have to do it and stay on it. It will help or prevent the shrinkage and warping I\u2019ve seen on almost all manufacturer\u2019s leather dashboards. It\u2019s depressing to see that happen, because having taken care of leather riding boots since my teens, I know that leather is almost everlasting with conditioning.
