Webers we a bitch, but better than Solex. Moved to an electric ignition and solved most of the idle/rev arc issues. I miss it every day, and won't tell you how little I sold it for in 2007. I've got an '86 Targa now, and it's a lot faster (same 901 tranny as this 5-speed) but on Skyline/Hwy 9 in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the 912 was more fun, and dare I say faster on hairpins from 2nd to 3rd gear. The Targa is a better all-round car, but there's something about a 912 that makes me want one again. This color, 5-speed, sorted but not perfect. Both Haggerty and NADA Classic have this one higher than the last bid. This site is just tough on Porsches. I know it is not a Targa. I have a 1968 Targa softie I am bringing back from a barn and even prior to a new $18000 paint job and a lot of parts I am in about $42,000 so far. 912's will come up a lot in the future.
