The car spent 54 years in a southern climate, and has never been exposed to salt. I purchased it a year ago from a British collector living in Florida. Over a two-year period (2012 to 2014), he personally invested hundreds of hours, and more than $25k, in this car. There have only been 1,000 miles driven since the refurbishment. I have been fortunate to be the caretaker of seven MGBs over the past 36 years, and currently own three...this beautiful 1964, an extraordinary 1965 that won 1st place in class 'MGB Mk1 1962-1965 Pull-Handle' at the 2018 North American MGB Register Convention in Gettysburg, PA, and a strong running, original 1967 driver that needs cosmetic work. My original plan for this 1964 was to purchase it as a solid platform for conversion to vintage racing. After it arrived in Ohio, I quickly determined that it was way too nice to modify, and ended up going a completely different direction by purchased a seasoned vintage race car this year (1967 Austin Healey Sprite). The paint, chrome, glass and finishes will all appear as excellent. No excessive smoke will be seen on startup, no unusual noises will emanate from the engine. My first car was a '64 MGB, I painted it Fiat red. As a teenage driver, I drove that poor car brutally, exceeding red line fairly often so the valves would float. It would red line in fourth gear, and would have gone faster except I was already going 105 on the speedo. That engine lasted to 140,000-ish miles when the front of the crankshaft disconnected itself from the rest of the crankshaft. It would still run, didn't want to die. These are very sturdy cars, imho. This one brings back some really fond memories. If I was single, this B would be mighty tempting.
