Let me address a few questions I see here first. There was a leak down test done and you can see the results. Sure this engine has some wear but remember the 2.4 T, E and S are very protected engines in that they use a very low compression ratio. The T is only 7.5:1 and the high compression ratio's are a lot more stress on an engine. These 7.5 :1 T cars will run for a very long time. One need not be concerned about the mileage like this on such a low compression set up. Porsche did this to meet \"regular gas\" requirements of the day. If you enjoy this car as it was designed you have no issues on this engine. If however you choose to run it hard and try to stay up with the big boys , then you will be doing a rebuild soon. As I owned this car and Mayo in Euless, Tx. worked on it I always asked about where the valves were before an adjustment. These were normally at .003 to .006 before a 8,000 mile adjustment. There was never any outlandish out of adjustment on valves. We used this car for trips, and at minimum 50 mile runs. It's the heat cycles that require more frequent valve adjustments. The factory would call for every 3,000 miles but they assumed you drove 7 miles to work each day five days a week, many heat and cold cycles there. This car was used from March to June then again September to early December by us. The COA will give the build date. You don't need a paint meter on this car. There are pictures of this car at the body shop sanded and light primer the owner has. They should post those. That verifies the body condition. The paint is Sherwin Williams two stage. 140 HP was the DIN rating on 2.4 T cars, 125 on the 2.2 T cars, and S were 180 hp and 190 hp on the 2.4 . ARNE is correct on the trim. I did not like the chrome plastic horn grills so I replaced them with metal chrome grills. Let me submit this part and I'll be back in an hour or so to go through the life of this car. The past owners such as myself have always treated this car with up most respect and care. This is an all original car, no new floors, battery trays, front pan rails, etc., no replaced body panels either! I did receive a \" proper take apart repaint\" with replacing rubber trim and horn grills and new Sigla windshield and all. This is a one time repaint, wet sanded and clay barred. The batteries have custom wooden boxes and are marine style that are totally sealed and the boxes like the rest of the car NEVER had any rust. Car was sold new in LA area by Vasak Polak to a Nevada IRS agent who transferred to NM. My oldest brother bought this and it was sitting and garaged for 18 years! I bought it, went through a protocol of specific order to start the engine. I installed the front radiator style oil cooler and it never runs above 210 temp even on a 100 degree day. I used Valvoline 20-50 synthetic blend high millage oil. Oil pressure was as follows: 1,000 10 lbs, 3,000 40 lbs, 4,000 60 lbs and 5,000 touch about 80 lbs. One gets about 900 miles to the quart as well. Chain tensioners were examined and ramps replaced with LOCKS in place. Notice this is not an oil fed set up. New chains were done as well. Bosch dist. and MFI belt were replaced too. There are no points in the distributor anymore. Valve adjustments were always checked before readjust to identify a problem on the rise. There never was any. An oil valve in the oil line to the tank was installed thus keeping oil from flowing to the engine during long sitting periods. The engine does not leak, if questioning that see the license plate! OEM heat exchangers are only good for 15 years, ask an A&P mechanic on this. Also a new fuel pump was required. This car is not a \" new floors, battery boxes, and front pan \" type of car. These are all original. The bottom of this car is nothing less than perfect! They are only original one time! Think about it, would you rather have a car with new everything or one with no stories and all OEM? This is not just another great looking 911T. It's a time capsule. All panels and metal are OEM. These all original type cars be it a T,E, or S are becoming harder to find. This car was appraised at Mayo Performance a few years ago when the market was hot at $ 100,000.00 and we know this market has dipped somewhat now. There is a71 S on BAT as we know at about $ 140,000 but ask yourself \" is it really twice the car\"? If on the other hand one is going to exert the power and push it hard then a rebuild is closer. I had my 2.2 T go 220,000 miles before it was running at 220 degrees, felt sluggish, and blue blow by was mounting on the chrome bumper guards. I would say 145,000 miles of intended driving style is about 70% wear. If one chose to do a $ 25,000.000 rebuild and drove it for 25,000 miles a few years you would offset the cost of the overhaul. We know if we add $ 25,000 to the cost of the car it stands to reason you won't recoup your full $ 25,000 for some miles ( drive some of the money out) but the car will be worth more with a rebuild. Notice the large magnet on the oil filter, never did I see any metal in the screen during an oil change either. Remember heat is the single worst enemy on any engine and this car has as one said a $4,000.00 front oil cooler that keeps it no more than 210 on a 100 degree day. I know I have seen this a couple of times in Lubbock. 145,000 miles is not excessive especially on a Porsche engine and one that has been cared for by all it's owners, not just the current one. Also the consideration as stated before is that 7.5:1 compression is low stressful compression, even on an old VW bug! Most Lycoming and Continental engines run at this ratio and of only rev to 3800 rpm. I once remember a mechanic of Porsche cars in Florida tell me there's a big difference between running an engine hard vs abusing an engine. Even if there was the need to do an engine rebuild, if there was ever a early 911 that was nice enough to support that cost and recoup the cost in 5 years this one would be one of those early 911 cars, E&S cars notwithstanding! But it is still drivable for the time being. With winter around the corner, drive the car until late fall and then hand it over to a good mechanic to do the work. A set of 2.2T P&C's will give you all the extra compression you need to bring the engine compression ratio to above 9:1 w/out having to spend big money on Mahle E or S pistons (Sometimes too much of a good thing is no longer a good thing.....)\nCase in point: I bought a car with a rebuilt motor using a 2.4 case, 2.2T P&C's, and Solex cams running Weber IDA 40 carb's. It was a little screamer. Really... It was never dyno'd, but was easily north of 175hp and ran like a banshee all the way from 3-7k rev's.\nAs Beck also said, you will undoubtedly need to have the case line bored since Magnesium cases warp very easily and after so many heating and cooling cycles, the case halves will never align again properly after the motor has been split. Having the case line bored will do away with oil leaks and assure that the engine runs cooler. Have them do the oil bypass mod as well, and think about upgrading to a 3.0 oil pump. Whatever you do though, make sure you bump compression on the engine above the bulls**t 7.5:1 the 2.4 911T motors came with from the factory. This car has all of the \"S\" appearance group items. The T items were black. On the engine ONCE again! Please remember as being the previous owner, this engine is very dry, no seepage, leaks, etc.. If the mains were \"out of round\" and needing a line bore you would have non stoppable oil leaks, you would have end play issues too, therefore there would exhibit clutch function problems. There are none of these issues at play here. This engine has never been apart. Would any of you who have had early 911 cars with lot's of mileage on them please verify that this mileage is not the same as 220,000 miles where a rebuild is coming about now?
