I'm curious what brand the front suspension/brakes kit is. \r\nFor me, the coupe is a much more attractive version of this car, but the sedan has its advantages, like better sealing against weather and air leaks at speed. It also has a 2\" taller roof line. \r\nThe automatic trans is disappointing. \r\nLooks like the driveshaft could fit farther into the trans, but that could be because the rear-end is jacked off the ground? \r\nThe Nova emblem on the grille doesn't belong. \r\nThe seats are not OE, though I doubt anyone bidding on this car will care about that. \r\nThe front bumper appears to be pushed in farther on the passenger side than the driver side. Probably bent brackets, which are common on these. They slide straight in along the frame rails, so slotting the mounting holes should fix it. \r\nWith this wheel and tire combo, the air shocks are probably required to raise the back end of the car so it won't rub tires. These cars are notoriously difficult to \"tuck\" tires under on the rear. Though, with some effort and money, rims with the right offset can be found. Even 17\" wheels. \r\nThe gas filler door is not factory. It's a sore thumb to me, but I have owned a first-gen Nova since I was 16. \r\nSome good stuff to work with here though. I built a 66 SS many years ago(79-80) that I used 67 Chevelle tailpipes on-they fit very nicely. I purchased a 65 GTO just to get the wheels and tires(15x7 Rallys) that fit well as mine was raised with ac stationwagon springs @ all 4 corners-style of the times. Like the Tubular control arms and R&P-has a few mods done to suit the owner. When these came out the hot lick was a 327/350 4 speed. We had 2 in the HS parking lot. Do I have history with these cars? Well, since the summer of 1966 there has been only one six-week period when there wasn't at least one Nova in our family's garage...\n\nWhile the seller willingly agrees that this car isn't perfect, all the basic parts are there to make it into a very nice cruiser. 1965 was one of the lowest production years for the Chevy II - which makes good, solid 2-door cars VERY hard to find. I've cross-posted this car to the 'big' Nova list (stevesnovasite.com - about 45,000 members + thousands of lurkers). At the current $2,500 bid, this car is ridiculously under-valued.\n\nTo all those who complained about the automatic transmission, I have two things to say: (1) Trying to sell a car with a stick-shift to most people under the age of 35 is a virtually impossible task. Most of them have never driven anything except an automatic. (2) Putting a manual trans into an early Chevy II that didn't come with one is not an easy task, especially if you're using a crate motor. Chevrolet cast special engine blocks for these cars that had the boss for the clutch ball placed a couple of inches off the spot where it was on all their other small-blocks. You can use a hydraulic system by adding an aftermarket master cylinder and slave cylinder, but that's a problem in itself. The other issue is that you also have to find the proper bellhousing - a standard Chevy bellhousing has the clutch fork exiting at 9-o'clock (looking from the back). Chevy IIs require a 7-o'clock exit to make the linkage work properly.\n\nTo swise: You have what appears to be a nice little Chevy II here. Granted, it has a few needs, but most Nova Nuts would be ecstatic to have this car as a nearly-complete project! Bill \"Grumpy\" Jenkins raced a '66 327 Nova in A/stock and was always a top contender against the hemi stockers (David and Goliath so to speak). Overall this car is a neat build, except for redoing welds and driveshaft length. I taught myself to weld arc and gas as a teenager with lots of practise. Today, MIG makes it easier but welding still requires a great deal of skill. Appreciate the comments . Car was a father son project but Life gets in the way, her name was Jerry and they moved on. Car is a great platform. Front suspension was purchased from The Nova Guy in Rancho Dominguez Ca. If it a first generation Helix suspension for this car. It makes a huge difference in the way it drivers and handles. Yes Mg welding is prettier but it is still solid. We pulled the heads and sent them to The head exchange in San Fernando CA to deck them and we installed a RV cam to pup it up a bit. Strong little runner, Lots of fun to drive. The driveshaft comment has come up before. Hooper's driveline in Sun Valley built the driver shaft for me. He said the yoke has the required travel and length needs for suspension travel. I guess that up for discussion. I tried to make sure every thing was right on the car . Everyone had s different spin on what they like and don't like. It is not cheap to build and car and some point you have make a decision as when to stop. You can put a magnet anywhere on the car and it will stick. It ran to over 260,000 miles.\r\n\r\nIn salt country, the death of these Nova bodies is found right under the front seats where the half frame is welded to the floor pan. The box beams crumble and separate from the floor pan, the vehicles sort of cracking in half, front seats falling through the floor. The driver side of the front bench seat ends up settling on the parking brake cable (shown in photos), bringing the vehicle to a halt. It's a race between the box beams and the floor pan to see which goes away first.\r\n\r\nThe box beams of this Nova are shown in the under body photos, the exact areas most prone to failure are clearly made available for viewing. I leave it to those interested to make their own evaluations.\r\n\r\nI would love to drive this little baby. Even my old wagon was a joy to throw around. I imagine this thing leaps around like a toad on a hot road. I envision that bulging hood rising before me as I press the go pedal. Front discs are a big plus. A '70 for 7 and a '69 for 7. The '70 came as 6 cylinder 3 on the tree. Did transplant with a 350 backed with a 350 trans. It too had the mono leaf rear springs. And most of the while breaking traction it did indeed have axle hop. Just never got around to installing a multi leaf rear end.
