With respect to the repaint, unfortunately, I don't have any information. I am not an expert on paint, but I did look the car over pretty carefully when I bought it. I didn't see any evidence of a repaint at that time although the paint just looked too new to me. It wasn't until after I bought it and was replacing the paper tag with a license plate that I realized the vin tag on the trunk had been painted over. I don't know why the car was repainted, but there certainly isn't any evidence of accident damage (good gaps etc) which is supported by the carfax. Again, I'm not an expert, but the paint appears to be a very nice paint job. If you are local you are welcome to see it for yourself and determine if it meets your standards. Looks like part of a hook that holds that in place is broken, I doubt you could get just that piece. Might have to replace the door card. There was a tan door card on ebay recently for a reasonable price. I bought a new one for a BMW years ago and it wasn't that expensive.\n\nOn the wood, I'm not sure how well it shows up in the pictures, but the wood cover for the CD player has a couple cracks as does the wood above the glove box. As noted in the description, the wood around the shifter is slightly bowed. Madera Concepts in California refinished a piece of wood for me a few years ago for another car. They did an excellent job. Can't remember the price but I'm thinking it was about $150 for one piece. Probably the most economical way to replace any of these is to wait for a nice used one on eBay.\n\nOn the paint, I looked the car over this weekend. Pretty confident the whole car was painted. It looks to me to be a quality repaint, but appears the whole car was painted. No evidence of an accident. Good gaps and the doors etc all shut like a vault. I think the car probably looks better with the repaint than it would with original paint after 13 years and 98k miles. \n\nHope this answers all the questions. I own a 2002 530i sport package 5 spd with the exact color combo. I absolutely love the car as my DD, though mine is a 3.0, verses this one as a 2.5. These cars are silky smooth to drive and the rack and pinion steering is very nice for feedback. I own 9 BMWs (5 of the M cars) and my E39 530i is my number 1 choice for DD duties.
