On an old Jag features / accessories can sort of come and go, oddly the windows work extremely well in all weather conditions on this one which is nice. For some background, I purchased a NOS Lucas wiper motor on ebay at great expense (it even came in a Lucas box which will convey to be recycled with the new owner) and replaced the wipers, they worked for about a day and broke. There are some forum entries that describe placing a Mazda motor in there and it's fixed. I was trying to keep things original, but replacing Lucas with Lucas probably can't be described as a 'fix'. @gmanaed the spare appears to be an original Dunlop, BaT added that comment. The spare wheel still has the original cosmolene on it. @defender405 oil pressure is very good I just drove the car, cranking it pops up just over 50 psi, then settles down below that mark - going down to about 20 psi when hot. It has about 60 psi on the highway at 3000-3500 rpm. I've read anything over 10 psi per 1000 rpm on this engine is fine. No idea on a lower rebuild but the engine is healthy with smooth sewing machine sounds from the top and bottom. It makes good power and runs on 12/12 cylinders. I don't think oil pressure or bottom end problems are really a concern on this engine, overheating them IS. I replaced the temp sender to the gauge to ensure I was getting accurate temp measurements and this one runs just below the N (normal) at all times. The secondary electric fan DOES function. This car has 4 temp senders...I've tested the EFI sensor and it's ohm range matches the gauge sender / gauge / laser thermometer readings. On the AC, the compressor engages, and I had the air blowing cold, the system was charged, it may have developed a new leak. I found two and fixed them, but the climate control functions as it should giving warm air/blend/defrost or cooler air as you turn the knob making all kinds of servo noises while it does its thing. I spoke with the dealer who had those details, but not much more. I assume it had something happen on that side at some point, there is a crease on the inner fender wheel arch directly under this tag. No, I don't believe there is bondo in the arches or in the lower panels. I was actually surprised at how straight the body and shut lines were on it when it arrived. I drove the car from Atlanta to Athens and then to Savannah in the past month totaling about 750 miles, the car runs very well. I purchased it to participate in an annual 'fun run' for classic cars 1976 or older. This is like a scavenger hunt, with some higher speed parts, and lots of stops and starts. The engine didn't miss a beat, meaning the car ran very well, it also shifts very well. I did belts, alternator, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor - so a general tune up, and diagnosed two non functional injectors which were replaced. All in the name of not being broken down in south Georgia, and having a nice running car. We didn't break down, it runs on all 12 cylinders with good power. If I had more time, I would have done the rear shocks, and I think it will need front brake pads - back rotors and pads look fine (luckily). I mentioned in an earlier post the car has quite good oil pressure 60 at highway speeds and 20 idle. It doesn't smoke. It will sometimes go lean or rich on a start up due to some erroneous input from the FI system, but it cranks, so I didn't tear into diagnosing that system, but running it - oil smoke? not at all. I added 1/2 quart of 20w50 in my whole time of owning it. As an aside, it does have a Hall effect distributor, rather than the reed system, so that's a nice upgrade. Finally, I'm not a mechanic, I'm just a guy with some tools, and everything I've described I learned through some great websites that help diagnose and fix some of the 'quirks' of these cars. Would I be confident to drive a 42 year old jaguar with original fuel injection and fi wiring on a decent journey? I did it, but I didn't have to 'be' anywhere for a few days, if you break down you have to be willing to relax and enjoy the side of the highway, I always pack a cooler of cold beer and a folding chair. As time has gone on, his 'reviews' seem more and more superficial, with more incorrect info. On one recent video (the Buick GN I think) he didn't seem to know what 'Body by Fisher' referred to or that the headrests were adjustable. He referred to the shifter in the recent Volvo Polestar review as being the only one he'd seen that returned to the center position after selecting a gear (except many cars, even ones he's reviewed) do that. I do agree it's a bad system. He gets a lot of historical info wrong. I suspect, unlike many here who have read about cars that existed before they were even born, Demuro's car knowledge basically seems to start with when he was around 12 or so and hasn't expanded much beyond that. The odd thing, is that before the 'Doug Score' and this format of videos, his stuff was a lot more informative and entertaining. These reviews, other than pointing out pretty superficial stuff, don't have much substance.
