He claims to have purchased the car as a partially finished restoration (frame on from what I can tell) and he completed, but it was definitely not done to perfection.\r\n\r\nWhen I purchased the paint and chrome were in great shape, the convertible top was new, and the all important irreplaceable grille was in excellent condition as well. The body and floorpan appeared to be solid and rust free, and the engine/transmission ran well. I kind of remember being told that they were both rebuilt, and that the engine was matching numbers, but I cannot be absolutely sure?? Easy enough to check the stamping on the block.\r\n\r\nHowever, there were several issues\u2026 The fuel tank had some rust perforation and when filled more that halfway would leak, so I replaced it, and there was a Pittman arm recall from the 1960\u2019s that was never done, but I found the correct updated part and replaced.\r\n\r\nThere were also body panel fitment issues (hood, doors), the ashtray door on the dash did not close properly, some hacked wiring under the dash, the odometer didn\u2019t work (I believe it was showing the same mileage that it currently shows), the front drivers seat leather was worn and had an open seam or two, the cruise control mechanism, and the windshield washer mechanism were missing, the autronic eye and the self-winding clock in the dash did not work. Also, the vent lever cable was broken or disconnected, and trim around the rear of the convertible top where the boot snapped on was coming loose.\r\n\r\nMy plan was to eventually fix all of these issues, but in the meantime I want to put some miles on it so that\u2019s why I did the front disc conversion with brake booster and master cylinder because the 4-wheel power drums just weren\u2019t getting it done. I also installed a PerTronix electronic ignition module for reliability and low maintenance. I see that some carburetor work was done on the car, but I never had an issue\u2026??\r\n\r\nUnfortunately, I just had my too much going on back in 2016 and did not have the time or patience to work on the car so I decided to sell it after owning it less than a year.\r\n\r\nIt appears that the front seat was reupholstered, and it looks like a quality job from the pics, the ashtray door fitment on the dash was corrected. Of course, I cannot verify any of the other issues were addressed from the pics, but I can definitely see that the windshield washer mechanism was not reinstalled??\r\n\r\nThis is my favorite body style of the era and there are just not too many nice examples around. The older wiring is still fairly pliable, which leads us to believe that it may be from the restoration and not original to the car.\r\n\r\nThere was a small fuel leak from the carburetor, so while it was off the car we decided to go ahead and rebuild it.\r\n\r\nThe transmission and engine oil pan gaskets were showing slight seepage, so those were replaced.
