I had put only 27 miles on it when I made my trip out to Roanoke Island, NC. The trip was only an hour and a half and 88 miles. I was going to investigate the Croatoan mystery as there had been some new disappearances. I knew right away something was strange as I was getting sharp pains in my temples and it felt like I was losing seconds, albeit briefly during my drive out. It was like the island knew I was coming and it was trying to stop me. Once I arrived, the daylight was slipping to darkness and the site was beset by a terrible storm. My Trooper rocked back and forth in the wind as the pressure built inside the cabin. The site was located on Cape Creek, and with the storm, it reminded me of the movie Cape Fear from about 10 years earlier. Everyone else that had been at the site had already left as they must have heard the storm was going to be a \"Big One\". My tent was obviously out, so I pulled my bag out, unzipped it and draped it over myself for some warmth. I tried the front seat for a bit reclined, but that only lasted an hour or so. I crawled through to the back bench and pulled the bag up to my chin. The rocking of the truck on its shocks and the strong howl of the wind, surprisingly had me asleep rather quickly. Suddenly a blinding white light and high pitched shrieking startled me awake. The pain from the light and the sound must have made me pass out. When I awoke, I didn't recognize my surroundings at all. There on the front seat was a copy of the Times News with the word \"CROATOAN\" scrawled below the header in big black letters. The paper was dated November 12th 2022. I drove the 350 miles back to Virginia Beach and immediately put this truck up for sale here. It's our second one...we love them! Someone commented about oil consumption. Isuzu gas V6s in Troopers use a lot of oil. Thought I read something about drain holes in the piston ring lands getting clogged over time. They are well built and generally reliable. Some parts are getting harder to find. A vacuum switch that engages the front axle went out on ours...had to find a used one on Ebay. The big question here is \"what is the story\"???? And there has to be one. The interior says super low miles... the outside a little less so...and the underside...not so much. Someone commented about perhaps being left outside in a damp environment. Perhaps. Vehicle was purchased at the checkered flag isuzu dealer in virginia beach. original owner stated it was his one and only new vehicle he purchased in his life. he added it to his collection of 2 other isuzu brand vehicles. it was stored indoors for most of its life until the owner moved to pennsylvania. it was then stored outside for some time and then sent to a mechanic shop to be brought back to life. the mechanic shop didnt touch it and the owner pulled it out and sent to a shop near me which is how i laid my eyes on it. i asked all the same questions everyone would normally ask seeing a 462 mile 20+ year old truck. i later found out the truck was being refreshed to be sold to pay for eye surgery. thats when i purchased it as is. They are known to use oil and spin rod bearings if you are not very dedicated to changing oil earlier than recommended. As far as the rust on the bottom, if this unit sat at the port for 6 months when new it would have already had a lot of the surface rust on the components you see and being located in Virginia Beach did not help either. I think the mileage is legit but looking at the paint and outside in general, I think this vehicle sat outside in the sun very much of it's life and probably un-covered. Everyone can see it has just been buffed out and still the paint is very rough so you can imagine how bad it looked prior to that. The comments about the timing belt needing replaced are probably a good idea and changing the fluids also. Again I think this unit sat in the bright sun somewhere and probably had a lot of hot and cold cycles from that. The AWD quit working in 2012, `my mechanic could not source the suspect solenoid so the only option was to remove the transmission and find a similar solenoid. @ 2K upfront with no guarantee I traded it in on a Honda Pilot. We loved that truck, it suited our purposes perfectly although the low crash test rating was a concern and sealed the deal.
