I thought I would chime in with a few responses to some of the comments: \n\nThat's a helpful tip regarding the fuel filter, it was not something that I was aware of. From looking at the manual it appears that it would have originally had a glass globe filter housing right above the pump (lower left of the engine). I suspect those are difficult to obtain, as the suppliers appear to only carry in-line filters. A metal canister inline filter will cost about $6 as a replacement and can be sourced from SuperScoutSpecialists.com. While I don't doubt that a more heat resistant material would be better in that position just above the manifold, a brief cruise around the internet (including the F-100 on this website, cool truck as well, btw), shows that a plastic inline filter in this placement is not at all an uncommon choice. I think fears of Lamborghini-like self immolation may be a bit overstated, but in any event this can be remedied for a few bucks, and it's good to know about.\n\nFrom reading many of the comments it appears that the pictures fairly represent this as far from a show truck. It really does look nice in person, but there are plenty of indiscretions and imperfections on every panel. You could likely whack it once or twice with a hammer without noticing. Actually, this thing is made with such heavy duty steel you might mess up your hammer. \n\nRegarding the choice to replace springs but not dampers, the shocks seemed to be performing fine and were not in need of replacement in my opinion and that of the mechanic who did the work, whereas there was a bit of a list to starboard from a saggy front right spring that I wanted to correct. There is no undue porpoising or bouncing over bumps or leaks that would indicate to me the dampers are shot. Also, to be clear, the front springs were replaced with new springs, and the rear were removed, cleaned, and repainted. Many of the records about IHC's light line are kept in an internet searchable collection by the Wisconsin Historical Society, a treasure trove of information on International Harvester. It is possible to route it on 2 lane highway, but it adds some miles. \n\nThe longest distance I myself have driven it in one trip is about 30 miles each direction, which is not much.
