It has the original deep lipped aluminum rims on it, (spokes are crusty looking. I rode it around 1,500 miles in the 20 years I have owned it, I believe. I am now too old, and it is too heavy for me to comfortably handle anymore. I had previously had a Lambretta 125 in high school, moved on to a Honda CB77 and then a Triumph Bonneville. My father really didn\u2019t like the Triumph. It was less than ideal commuting to college almost 50 miles each way. The Triumph\u2019s habit of blowing its high beam bulb under hard acceleration was just one of its many vibration related foibles. When I bought the BMW he was really pleased. I had read about fairings that were showing up on bikes across \u201cthe pond\u201d and hinted that with much colder weather coming, on one could be a reward for good first semester grades. To my surprise he somehow found a source for an Avon fairing just like this one and it was under the Christmas tree. The windshield on mine was lower and more rounded, but otherwise identical. A friend who knew how to use tools, which at the time I did not, installed it with with me more watching than helping. It was so cool looking\u2026it was the only faired bike I ever saw around our parts for a long time. The thing that alarmed me on the first ride was the noise. The Lambretta was quiet and soft. The Honda and Triumph, which both had megaphones, hence my father\u2019s displeasure, were less mechanically noisy because I was wearing an open face Bell with a flat shield and no windshield. With the fairing mounted, the racket of the engine was amplified and reflected up to the rider. It was alarming at first, but one gets used to most things that make us look so cool, as my bike did and this bike will for whoever wins this. It won\u2019t be me, cuz if you can do math you can figure out that I\u2019m real old. In five decades of riding and 38 bikes my favorites are my Ducati 750 GT\u2019s, my Honda VFR and my BMW R50/2 with the coolest fairing.
