And a dripping wet look is just wrong for a car earlier than the 1980's. Sellers description makes no mention of the paint type, but it does not appear to be clear coated. \r\nWRT RESTORATIION: My definition would be to disassemble the car totally and paint and straighten the bottom, among other things. \r\nPositives: This is almost the first early car I've seen here in a while that has the right colored fuel tank. Yes, charcoal grey body shutz on every original one I ever saw, top and bottom. I like that it has Solexes. And factory air cleaners, properly connected. Regarding irrational exuberance, it's easy to get excited about the early 911/912 cars. \nRegarding the original Porsche hood badges, they were not made from cheap reflector plastic and gold spray paint as they are now. The originals are not sparkly and reflective at all. The bars are finished in dark red and black enamel paint. Good original Reutters hood badges are hard to find, and good ones go $500 and up. The one on this car is probably $40 at any Porsche online discount parts shop (or $80 at the Porsche Dealership). \nThe devil is alway in the details on these early cars. Once you have seen/owned enough original ones, you start to notice all of the expensive missing parts on the ones usually offered up by dealers that come up for resale. This car has good bones, but the resto work, in particular the paint job, could have been done better. For example, the prep work to tape off the paint code tag in the driver's door jamb, as well as the VIN plate in the front slam panel give away the care and attention to detail of the paint shop doing the body and paint work. As I posted before, this car has good bones and could easily be taken to a higher level with a little knowledge and money.
