These aren't sports cars, they're grand tourers, and therefore the car taking care of everything for you properly, is exactly on form, while managing a 9 speed in stop and go traffic might sometimes become quite tedious.\n\nThe only time I've been surprised with what the transmission does, is if I'm in town, starting from low speed, then good acceleration, followed by a full throttle release and coast. The car will stay in a lower gear and higher RPM for about three our four seconds -- But there, it's just saying, \"Hey, I'm ready for more if you want it,\" while it waits for you to figure out what you're doing.\n\nWhether the Vantage should be a manual, of course, is simply personal preference. If you enjoy the connection with the car of rowing the gears yourself, then by all means, buy that. I will tell you that you won't be dissapointed if you don't.
