Best vehicle I ever owned and while there are some quirks, the old school quality and durability far outweighs the flaws. I specifically went for a 2016-2018 G550 with the G63 bumpers and the later engine. I've been very pleased and the power is dramatically better than the 2002. Very low end torque and you can roll around town at 1200 rpm all day. I feel as though the updates over the years have been tasteful and appropriate.
