There is a touch of rust at the front of the passenger side front wheel arch, and then at the front of the driver's side rear wheel arch. Both areas can be seen in the first set of photos. As far as the undercarriage goes, there is some surface rust as you can also see. In my time as caretaker of this truck over the past 14 years, I have always kept it nice and clean - inside, outside and underneath. In the wintertime, it does not get driven when the roads have been treated for snow and ice. My wife and kids think I'm nuts! I tell 'em if they want to go do some donuts in a parking lot in the snow somewhere - take the Subaru ;<} \r\n\r\nRegarding the color question - It's Moooon Glow Pearl. Who thinks up these names?\r\n\r\nI am 1st BaT-imer and I am looking forward to see how this all works out. No axle diff lockers. When I was looking for a Land Cruiser, I specifically wanted a 1997 as it was the last year of the 80 series, it had to have low mileage (49,600 in 2008), and it had to be in good condition. I wasn't concerned about lockers because I knew that I could always add ARB lockers if needed, and, there would be less competition for an unlocked 80. Fortunately, after a lot of searching, I found this truck that checked all the boxes, and was in my favorite two-tone color. On top of this, the truck did not have a factory roof rack, or running boards. So I hit the jackpot in terms of what I wanted. \r\n\r\nMy good fortune had actually started earlier than my quest. Initially, I had wanted to get a '97 F250 (I had a '75 back in the day and it was a great truck!). So I run this by my wife, but she's not too keen on the idea. But.... then she says.... \"why don't you get a Land Cruiser? I love those\". So needless to say I was all over that ;<} \r\nHappy Wife makes for a Happy Life - and I also get to have a Land Cruiser!\r\n\r\nBack to the locker question - in my moderate offroading experience, the center diff lock, solid axles, nicely articulating Old Man Emu coil spring suspension, and 285 Duratrac's provide great traction and a great ride. If you look at photo #43, you will see a picture of an FJ40.\r\nThis was my Dad's best friends Land Cruiser. This photo was taken in the Colorado Rockies in the summer of 1972, and was my first off-roading trip. One trip was all it took for my brothers and I, and it lit our outdoor fire! Thanks Dad (and Mom)! \r\n\r\nMy Dad and his friend grew up together, learned to fly together, and went into the Army Air Corps before Pearl Harbor. Both became bomber pilots, both served our country in WWII and Korea, and Vietnam. 95% of my Dad's flight school did not survive World War II. They were, and are, The Greatest Generation. \r\n\r\nThankfully, both made it back and eventually retired in the Denver area to raise their families, and to live life to the fullest. We shared many outdoor adventures together, and they passed on their passion for the outdoor life to all their kids.\r\n\r\nMoving on to the present, I carry on the family traditions as do my two brothers. In my case, the next generation has said - \"hey Dad - can we move on to a new vehicle?\" So....with a little reluctance, but always with an eye toward future adventures....
