Same picture shows this simulator is bent on the outer edge opposite the valve stem, where the simulator meets the tire. The rebuild is a bit suspicious. The bill shows it was brought in because it would not crank. Not cranking is unrelated to compression. I'm suspicious that the engine only needed a starter, and somebody was sold a bill of goods. If the truck had been sitting for some time before being brought to the shop, the lifters collapsed, and a compression test is bogus if it was never started before testing. \r\n\r\nThe \"rebuild\" shown on the two pages we see thus far is nothing more than a severely overpriced hone and ring job with a bunch of insanely overpriced parts to go along with it. For example, it has two $400 camshafts on the bill, eight spark plugs at $30 each, a $50 water pump for $192 + $35 for the gasket, and a $110 oil change. I get this is NY, but everything about this bill is highway robbery prices except the labor rate. To me, it is written to take advantage of the uninformed. The labor rate looks reasonable, and if you don't know what part prices are normal for these engines, you wouldn't know you were being severely gouged. \r\n\r\nMake a note of the statement \"LIMITED WARRANTY: THE WARRANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER TO ANY PERSON, ENTITY OR VEHICLE...\"\r\n-----\r\nI have a 460 from this generation with ~125K original miles in my F250. It has perfect compression and still pulls 12K+ lbs without question. \r\n\r\nGiven the condition of this truck, I don't believe it needed an engine rebuild. If the E4OD hasn't been rebuilt, it will be due soon.
