Apparently, production limitations led to fulfillment issues, although historic operations complexities run deep. As the story goes, Harley-Davidson received the high-volume assignment, and subsequent revenue windfall.\r\n\r\nYears back, I nearly purchased this model, and recall the seller\u2019s mention of upgrading to an alternative 6-speed transmission set-up, which may have been a personal choice, rather than born out of necessity. My recollection is limited.\r\n\r\nDuring research prior to a potential purchase, I recall discovering these significant DOT Recall & Safety Bulletins addressing issues with the 2003 Indian Chief Springfield (Gilroy series). I felt it was absolutely worthwhile to relocate said and post the DOT link, which would be vital to collectors and riders alike.\r\n\r\nSafety Recalls May Not Be Addressed On This Collector Unit. One addresses the non-locking side-stand that can suddenly tip-over with the slightest forward motion. They mention potential injury, and cosmetic damage would be an issue with limited parts availability.
