I purchased the RAV4 last year in November from a small dealership located in San Francisco, California. I'm a big fan of 90s Toyotas and have always thought the first gen RAV4 was a cool little truck. I couldn't resist this one, so I flew out to San Francisco and drove it back. As you'll note in the photos, this car isn't a cherry or a collector example. It has some imperfections, mainly the dent on the tailgate near the handle and some minor scratches and dings scattered throughout the body. But, I've never owned a more venerable little car. My first experience with it over the last 4 months was driving it 2,800 miles home which it did flawlessly. No. overheating, rattles, ticks, or breakdowns of any sort. In the end, it completely 51 hours of driving in under 72 hours without issue. \r\nNow for the details: the main appeal of this car was it's incredible rust-free condition. This is a livelong Northern California car and the underside speaks for itself. Here in the rustbelt and the Northeast, we can't have nice things last the way this RAV4 has. Between that, the 5-Speed manual, the nearly spotless interior, and the deep jewel green pearl paint, this has been a fun and conversation-starting little car for me. There isn't much to detail about what works and doesn't work and the listing is comprehensive in that regard. The radio doesn't turn on (a common flaw in my experience, I've seen a '98 4Runner that had a broken one as well). All the lights, wipers, defrosters, and climate control work; the AC is cold and the heat is hot. That's about everything electrical this car has besides maybe the horn. The brakes and clutch both grab well and the engine hums along just as it should. Over my ~4,500 miles of ownership, I've averaged 21 MPG city and 28 on the highway. Note that the previous owner did a big service on it, including the timing belt, spark plugs, and fluids. Under my ownership, I've just driven and enjoyed it. \r\nOver the next week, I'll be uploading driving, cold start, and walkaround videos. Additionally, I'll get my paint meter gauge on it to show you all the quality of the paint. I split my time between New York and Ohio, which is why the RAV4 is titled in New York, but I'm selling it in Ohio. As for the lapse on CarFax, there's a pretty big delay for title issuances in NY. It took about 7 weeks for me to receive the title from the DMV. The clean, clear NY title in my name is in hand and ready to be transferred. The only thing that was left out of the auction is the driver door lock only works from the inside; the key lock on the outside of the car doesn't work. The handle operates as it should, but the door must be locked/unlocked from inside the car. I hope that's clear and any potential bidders have a good understanding of the car! \r\nOne last note: I would be happy to store the car for two weeks from auction close (3/21) for the winning bidder to arrange transport.
