My comments are not meant to be critical of this '40, rather to point out things that might not be known by some. While there have not been major changes, there are several modifications. The two halves of the hood have been welded together and the center stainless steel trim removed along with the hood opening handle. The lower trim on the hood has been removed along with the \"Ford Deluxe\" emblems. The stainless steel trim has been removed from the outer painted sections of the grille. The cowl vent has been filled, or welded shut. The rear license plate has been moved from above the trunk handle to the panel below the trunk, although the trunk handle appears to still have a license plate light. The outside mirrors are for a '39 Ford. They might be a better option since '40 mirrors are mounted on the cowl in line with the side trim and the passenger side one is almost useless. The bumpers appear to be reproduction. Glove box door is from a Standard (no opening for a clock).\nPicture # 65 shows a patent data plate with \"B324843\" in the space on the top of it. This number is also shown in the vehicle description as the Chassis number. This is not a correct serial number for a '40 Ford. (Frame identification numbers for Ford for 1940 started with 18-5210701 and ran thru 18-5896294.) Interested parties may want a clarification if they have concerns about transferring the title.\nThere's no way of knowing how long this '40 has been a hot rod but based on the color, wheels, interior style and materials, gauges and overall presentation I would guess that it was built in this style in the mid-'80s.
