Let me start by giving you as much history as possible. This car was imported in early 2022 by car enthusiasts Car Cave and I follow some of the cars they import and love their choice of cars. That said, almost all of the performance mods were already in place and the previous owner estimated 300 hp. Early in its days Volvo replaced the auto tranny to a 5 speed manual. When we got the car we took it to our Volvo specialist and had them go through the car an fix anything that needed fixing and then also do necessary preventative maintenance, new brake pads, change all fluids, install a new clutch, timing belt, tensioner, water pump, battery, electrical, rear hatch struts, window switches, had the windows tinted, new Bluetooth head unit, and new floor mats. In total over $6k of work. The car is a blast to drive and hold on when the turbo kicks in, sleeper for sure. With the current exhaust it sounds very Viper like in tone. \r\n\r\nI love wagons and will only buy manuals, including 2 M5 E34\u2019s and a CTS-V. This one is unique, has a high cool factor and like most of our cars you don\u2019t see them very often. Paint is nice but not perfect and the interior is ok comparable to its mileage. The final item which we usual change are the tires and we did not get to them. This would be a great driver and as mentioned the rear has come in very handy moving wheels/tires, furniture and our dogs love the flat sitting area. \r\n\r\nI am by no sense an expert but just love these wagons. I almost bought an olive wagon a few years ago until I found out it came from Italy and thus had a 2.0 litre engine to conform to Italian regulations. I never even knew they made these engines with that displacement until then. I have a few questions if you can help shed some light. \r\n\r\n1) The over the engine pipe immediately threw me off but then as @jaredr noted, it\u2019s probably due to a different turbo being installed on the car. Can you confirm if this is the volvo k24 turbo or something different?\r\n2) Considering it has a different turbo, exhaust, and an aftermarket intercooler, do we know anything about the tune or ECU on the car? Especially since this car used to be an automatic, certain ECU parameters had to have been adjusted to let the car know it no longer identifies as an automatic. \r\n3) On that same note, any chance you can get a video of the aftermarket boost gauge showing what the car boosts to? I think this being a European car, the gauge measures in bar which is fine but would be nice to see what its doing. I believe factory setting was around 12 psi or .8 bar, but maybe slightly higher being a European example. With the additional mods and hopefully a tune, I would imagine somewhere around 20 psi or 1.4 bar on wide open throttle.\r\n4) The video posted was about 8 months ago, what has changed since that video? Does it still drive/look the same?\r\n5) The wood steering wheel in the video is not included?\r\n6) Has the car been repainted?\r\n7) It appears this car was in some other European country from 1995 before going to Sweden in 2002. We had our Volvo mechanic go through the car, I had a new Pioneer stereo unit put in, changed the steering wheel (sold the old one), had the center armrest console re-covered, tinted the windows, did a minor paint correction and detail, and put new floors mats in (I have the old ones)\r\n\r\nWith regard to the Turbo, I am not sure. The new clutch came from Viva performance Item #272218. Nothing has changed since the video was done except the replacement euro steering wheel which was re-covered in new leather. There is a book of receipts that is two inches thick and everything going back to original registration is in Swedish so I am assuming that is where the car's origin started and stayed until importation to the US. We are a dealer in CA so I had my CA dealer plate on the car, not registered in CA. I don't think we will have time to do a compression check, sorry. And interesting you mentioned how it felt because that was my exact concern. Installing performance mods on a car without a proper tune to take advantage of them does a disservice, sometimes even makes the car drive worse. The car still thinks it has certain parts with certain characteristics and that's just not the case anymore. It needs to know that it has a different turbo with different flow characteristics, a more free-flowing exhaust, a larger intercooler, etc. I've driven a Volvo with a few performance mods without a tune and it drove slower than how it was stock. The good news is, for about $700 you can get a proper tune to take advantage of all this stuff. Assuming* the engine is still healthy and compression is still in range*\r\n\r\n@acpound93 Can you tell us a little bit about your car so we can understand what this olive is like. What do you have on your car, what tune, what suspension, what exhaust and manifold, what boost are you running, etc?\r\n\r\nThe note about the suspension. A friend of mine got an 850 with the same suspension as this one and immediately figured out they needed to be sent out for a rebuild, since they\u2019re rebuildable. So if the ride is rough, which is very subjective from person to person, they may need to be removed and sent off for a rebuild. But they could be fine, like I said, it\u2019s subjective. I'm running Koni Strt on one of my 850s with H&R lowering springs, sway bars front and rear, 225 width tires, and 18\" wheels. It's not the most plush ride but then again, that car's purpose is weekends only so it\u2019s fine :0)\r\n\r\n@t5ing, yes you're very right. Once you get up in the boost and horsepower/torque numbers, the clutch will start to slip, but mainly because of the pressure plate not being able to handle the torque and not necessarily the clutch itself. I think the seller mentioned the clutch installed from Viva is the R clutch, I think, and if that's the case, if should be fine to hold 20psi, although we don't even know what boost numbers this car is running. But after 20psi, probably once you're approaching upwards of 350whp/tq is when you need to switch from the R pressure plate that comes with the R clutch to a Sachs 707 pressure plate. Actually, now that I am typing this out, you brought up a great point. We know the clutch was changed on this car but we don't know what pressure plate is on here and that's what causes the clutch slip on this car. Nonetheless, it doesn't seem like that's a concern since I doubt this car is pushing into the horsepower/torque figures to where it would necessitate that, respectfully. \r\n\r\nWhen the aforementioned 850 of mine got a new aftermarket turbo, I drove the car one time before realizing I needed the Sachs 707 pressure plate, which was both fortunate and unfortunate at the same time. You can tell you're having clutch slip vs tire spin because if you look at your dash and see the speedo behaving normal and the rpm gauge increasing, you know you're drivetrain is slipping and need beefier components. On the other hand, if your speedo is increasing alongside your rpm, then you know you're experiencing tire spin due to weak tires, slippery road conditions, etc. I spent a hot Texas July 4th with a friend dropping the transmission again, installing the new 707 plate alongside the R clutch that I had on there, and then slapping it back together by night.
