I knew the owner due to common interest in old English cars (I am from UK). I took over recommissioning the MG from its slumber. It needed nothing other than little adjustments here and there.\r\nI am not so familiar with these pre 1950's MG's but my father helped me understand how the rev counter worked and how to other odds and ends. He worked on XPAG engines in the late 50's and 60's. On some of the non original comments, I am going off the extensive files that were left. Ed documented everything so if you need anything specific contact me.\r\nThe chrome wires were his choice and look great, no kinks, rust or marks. If you don't like them then can always be taken off and the silver wires put on. With regard to the radiator plate, not sure, that may have been mislaid during the restoration? The new chassis plates should not be a problem? \r\nThe color suits the car so well, again, if you want to go back to BRG then one can do that. Please do not criticize the color on this listing.\r\nNot sure about the side screen question. They frame is original but the fabric maybe not.\r\nAgain, if anyone is unsure please come and see the car. The comment about Kjell Qvale and first 8 TC's imported. It's a 75 year old car, so some parts will have been replaced. Yes, even maker's plates get misplaced sometimes during restorations. The color is period correct and (in my opinion) suits the car very well, although it looks darker than it really is because of the way the photos were taken (heavy ambient light). Some photos with controlled lighting would be a good idea. Same with the wheels and pretty much everything else that isn't original factory spec. An argument can be made that MGTCs were the first mass produced sportscars to be imported on a large scale to the US, and this one is among them, but that doesn't make this TC any more special than any other. Its a special car because of its history and its condition, but its no longer a show car. Most TC buyers will be looking for condition and drivability, which this one delivers very well. For the few that want something very original to show competitively, this would be an impractical choice. While the Alfin drum are still considered a perfectly good mod, the chrome has long since lost favor. Superchargers are a mod that have always been accepted by the T-type cult. So a high quality resto here, with some mods that have lost favor over the decades. Steve McQueen changed the color of his XK-SS to make it less visible to cops when he was racing on Mulholland.
