I did the partial to show it did work and was strong. The last picture in the photo library will show the top down and the boot in place. Boot snaps are all in great shape same condition as the car. It has the very rare steering wheel found on some late build \u201867 cars. It is sometimes referred to as the \u201crecall\u201d wheel, but it is really just a redesign. There was no recall. Prior to this redesign, the steering wheel had long horn buttons that sort of \u201cfloated\u201d in between the spokes. They were worried that in a crash, they would become spikes and impale the driver. This redesigned wheel eliminated those so called \u201cspikes\u201d. Bottom line, this steering wheel is rare. The 383 could only be ordered in 1967 with the Formula S package and it was the top engine in the lineup for this car (440 would come later in 1969). \n\nNow add the convertible body, rare paint color, and the 4-speed and you are getting into Hemi car rarity territory. I don't know the seller but just judging by the photos, the car is done right under the hood and the chassis is not overkill so you can drive this car without worrying about hurting it. \n\nI've owned a dozen Mopars over the years and loved my 69 convertible. The 1967 revision most significantly widened the body and as a result allowed the big blocks to fit. The story of course is that it was not the original intent but Mr Norm's Grand Spaulding took advantage of the additional room and began offering 383 swaps into Darts as the GSS. The factory followed with this mid-year option. As noted the driver's side exhaust manifold was a serious challenge when it came to snaking the header pipe around the steering shaft and through the space taken by the torsion bar. The restrictive result netted a downgrade in the 383 rated output. I once thought power steering was also not available but I've been proved wrong though the M Code 440 in 1969 was exclusively manual. This example is manual and without the fast ratio option noted will by the 24/1 box, five turns lock-go-lock. Pretty slow for quick steering action but with the heavy engine probably a relief. This was a big deal for the 1967 cars as they carried forward the 273 smallblock that had some good performance engineering but was a small engine at the time and continued to run the low restriction but single exhaust. When the 340 came along in 1968 the big block option lost a lot of cred as the high winding 340 powerhouse was actually a quicker and better handling package. Big blocks I've seen over the years tended to be turned into street race/drag cars with fenderwell headers and the usual straight line enhancements. This ragtop is spectacular in original form. I especially like that it doesn't have the common console rather the purposeful shifter straight from the floor. As others commented, seeing that rare steering wheel is pretty cool. It's presented as a very real car that's quite pristine at a sixties level and not over restored. But something rarely discussed is the amazing design of some wheel covers of this era. \u2018Mag\u2019 style caps on this car are very ornate and very cool looking. Exposed chrome lug nuts w/fluted cone + medallion are the cherry on top. A nice set of these had to be very difficult to source(!) The first big block and the first year convertible, along with a 4 speed, is significant in the Mopar world. Just a few years earlier the A-body came with a slant 6 only. Dropping the B engine in the new-for-67 chassis and body was huge, especially considering the Mustang was soon being stuffed with a 390 and the new GM F-bodies were gonna be 396 equipped and Mopar needed to respond in kind.\nThis example in blue is beautiful and I\u2019m sure it is going to be priced out of my realm, and rightly so.
