It stops traffic, and it stops in traffic! When it wasn't at the dealer for service or waiting for parts, It was a delight to drive. The 1984 had problematic LED dash components. the 1985 and 1986 had CRT's. The company that designed, built and serviced the LEDs, CRT'S and later the Fluorescent vacuum systems was named Javelina Corp (Javelina is Spanish for pig). They were located in Texas. I was able to get dash parts from them several years after the dealer stopped parts and service. My A/c guy was working on the A/C again and managed to break one of the picture tubes. No factory parts to replace. My research to source these was extensive. Finally one year later I discovered three of the tubes new on Ebay as fitting a U.S.Government F15 ( They were the right part number). I continued to love to drive the car and love it after each experience. I was checking under the hood with the engine running. I noticed the odometer was clicking off miles while parked. That was the last straw. pass smog. I would be tempted to buy this car as am amazing work of stationary art in spite of all the trials and tribulations. Look at photo #58.. In this you will see the rear lighter and ashtray. To the left of the ashtray there is an adjustable blower switch controller. This activates and controls fan speed for the rear air. You will need to completely evacuate the refrigerant and blue dye to clean out\r\n the contaminants in the system. To refill the system, turn on the rear A/C control to high. Turn on front controller and fill to factory spec with R 12. This system was designed to use R12. R134 is only 80% as efficient as R12 . R134 is caustic. \r\nR12 is an enert gas. Another major drawback to using the R134 is it runs at a much higher pressure than R 12. With this pressure differential, 134 can and will blow any, or with time (38 years) all the flexible freon lines front to rear. Original seals are also designed for lower pressures. They too will need replacement. The factory did not use colored dye to check for leaks (used leak detector). Its presence indicates this system has failed from leaks before and will again. The blue dye is a contaminate. I suggest you completely flush the entire prior to the R12 recharge. I know you will have to find someone who can work with freon and has a source.
