The 2000 was replaced in Europe in 1972 by the 5 series. As I also own a 1969 2000, these are awesome cars and get more attention than other BMWs of the same vintage. Door seals, dashboard, upholstery padding under the vinyl, etc. etc. Then there's paint and body. So don't be surprised at the cost, because it's always more than you estimate. A full restoration would certainly eclipse the car's market value. But it is such a cool survivor, it deserves a continued life on the road. Mine has a cloudy history, but does have 45DCOEs, the factory air filtration for the Webers, and Alpina steel wheels. I was a certified Master Technician at a BMW dealership for a decade and test drove thousands of cars, over the years. It is my opinion that these mid-sized cars worked better than the small cars, of the flagship cars. I have a few BMWs. 2002 Tii, 2000TI, and 2000CS. The TI outperforms them all. It builds and carries speed, nicely. It goes around corners [much better after all the aftermarket upgrades], and it stops. You can see out of it and there is room for the dog, in the back seat. The trunk... The trunk would easily carry two dead bodies.
