You can put in a new one and it could go bad in one month or 20 years. My current gtv6 has had the sender more than 19 years, always pegs the needle on start up, runs 25lbs on the gauge at hot idle. It runs normal pressures on a mechanical gauge. I run valvoline vr1 20-50 and that oil takes a while to thin out. 8 qts with filter. Gauge most likely not a problem if it runs around 25lbs at hot idle. For a cheap gtv6 no problem, for an expensive one it would be nice to have confirmation at least of hot idle reading and preferably documentation with mechanical gauge readings. Likely not an issue. Everything rubber needs replacing, all electrical grounds and fuses and relays cleaned, headlight and ignition switch relays installed. Old wiring is old wiring. Vacuum leaks in the L-Jetronic and electrical grounds are #1 cause of gtv6 problems on good cars. Regardless of mileage, this is an old albeit low mileage car.
