Knowing I had been a life long Ford nut, my boss asked me to arrange purchase of one of these new Ford GT's having just had a private tour of the factory while at the Meadow Brook Concours d'Elegance by Steve Saleen. Asking as he often did \"what color?\" I replied \"you have to get the Heritage Edition\". I found a Ford dealer in North Carolina with one that would sell at sticker price and made the deal. I took delivery in Monterey during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance week. My boss let it be my car for the whole week, an absolute dream come true. Once home and back to work my job was to oversee service, repairs, restoration, and storage of his collection. I can tell you that this Ford GT received the most love and care possible by a die hard Ford fanatic, me. It was properly broken-in, serviced, detailed weekly, and in a climate controlled environment while in my care. We commissioned one of the best and most talented restorers in the country to remove any tape graphics and replace with proper paint. Unfortunately my boss received and took advice by one of Los Angeles's most famous car experts that a black Ford GT would be a better choice. I came to work to find out my boss had sold the car to Auto Gallery and letting my emotions get the best of me I stood at his office doorway and said rather seriously \"your going to regret that\". Within 10 minutes I apologized and told him \"I have no business telling you what or how you should run your collection\", needless to say I felt awful. Really the only 2 options were the Heritage package and the Macintosh sound system evident by the woofer protruding from between the seat backs and a sticker price of around $180,000 so your second factory sticker info post is more accurate. I carefully removed the sticker from the window without damaging it as I knew this was and always would be a special car. I carefully folded it and placed it within the owners books leather pouch. We had a very competent office manager who handled all sales and purchase transactions that passed on all the books, documentation, and accessories that came with the car to Auto Gallery. This car also came from the factory with vinyl race car number roundels that we never put on the car.
