Yes, the faux roll bar is easily rectified. Take it out. It isn't safe and on top of that the way it is mounted identifies you as a poser. The seat belts are not easily solved as the \"box\" in the rear seats prevents access to one of the mounting points for belts. \nUsing this car with just lap belts is, for lack of a better word, stupid. I've built lots of hot rod 911's and while an old 911 is not as safe as a modern Corolla, why take away whatever means are there to protect you in an accident, no matter how minor. That is absolute nonsense.\r\n\r\n I tagged @Seller on the first day of the auction and asked about the presence of race tires and a roll cage accompanied only by lap belts rather than shoulder harnesses. No response.\r\n\r\nDP\u2019s posts about the roll cage that may not be a functional roll bar and, in fact, may be dangerous. @ennisk1 has echoed the safety issue w/r/t the roll bar. @rcrowder calls it a guillotine. This is all valuable information to me - perhaps not in this auction, but definitely so going forward. And I seriously cannot believe that no one else didn\u2019t learn something about this. (Or maybe I just want to believe that so I\u2019m not the only person who didn\u2019t know. \ud83d\ude0a)\r\n\r\nAm I going to bid on this car? Probably not, although I am looking for another car and this has a lot of features I am looking for in my next purchase. With that said, I find the comments by some people to be pretty....well let's say uninformed. \r\n\r\nFirst off, how would a roll bar that is bolted to a steel frame become a projectile in a front end accident? Do the rear seats in your SUV fly off and through the windshield during a crash? I tracked an E36 M3 for 4 years with just a bolt in bar (although with a proper cross beam for shoulder belts) without incident and I never feared it becoming a projectile and I was attached to it via shoulder belts. Considering no shoulder on this car belts that statement is just silly.\r\n\r\nIf you are wondering why the car doesn't have shoulder belts you no doubt didn't look at the seats which would most likely come up to mid-back like the Scheel seats in the 3.0 CSL listed here. If you put shoulder belts on you would actually suffer more damage in an accident than with just lap belts. The seats themselves are guillotines in the event of a serious rear-collision but belts aren't going to save you. \r\n\r\nAs with the rear tire, not my thing. If bolted correctly I am not worried about it flying off, however, if I got a flat and had to change the tire I could only imagine dirtying up the interior as I struggled to get the tire out and flat tire in. And I don't see a jack...but maybe I didn't look hard enough.\r\n\r\nWith all that in mind, I think the build is exceptional. If you want a vintage racer this car is definitely not for you. Personally, I wouldn't take any period \"hot-rod\" on the track unless it had a full cage and was a dedicated track car but that is just me with 20 years of track/racing/teaching experience.
