When my car was at the other shop [when the AC was being replaced], I asked them for their opinion. They told me that all of the steering-related components looked nearly-new! I have no problem with the steering at all. I have owned 5 GM A-Body cars [1 GTO and 4 Buick GSs], and the steering is completely normal. GM did have a close-ratio steering box available when A-Body cars were ordered to tighten up some of the play, and there are lots of people offering these units for sale. There are also shops that will restore YOUR gearbox to do the same thing. ALL of the work I had done on the car has been completed since I took possession of the car in April of this year, so yes--it is currently inspected. It is a beautiful, very high-quality driver, which is what I wanted when I bought it. I am selling my car due to a personal family situation. Whoever buys this car is getting a fantastic, numbers-matching California car with no rust and a completely original drivetrain. The only thing that I know of--at all--is that the blinkers are currently not working. I would guess it needs a turn signal cancel cam. I can only guess that the individual that re-upholstered the sail panels either didn't use enough glue, or he was a lousy re-upholsterer.
