Purchased it at the Love Field Antique Mall in Dallas, drove it to Albuquerque, spent a lot of time working on the car to polish up & detail all the cosmetics, improve original parts, cleaned all instruments internally, took care of any mechanical issues (not much), and kept it tuned for the high altitude at Dieter\u2019s German Car Specialists in ABQ. I installed the period correct radio (old auto radio.com) & a new in the box original 912/911 speaker that I luckily found at an old electronics shop. Wife also spent a lot of time on the car & together we won a total of 13-1st place trophies & one 2nd place (our 1st show ever, PCA), from the Porsche Club, and the 3-day Super Nationals Car Show (2 times, including best restoration trophy) and other shows. We also took some nice mountain drives around ABQ & Santa Fe (The Turquoise Trail), including to the top of Sandia Peak. Drove it to work at Kirtland AFB many times. The car was red when purchased; I prefer original but hard to go wrong with a red 912. I thought the color was Guards Red though. The reason we sold it was due to a long-term work relocation from ABQ to Greece (for 2 years). It is a fairly easy car to work on, and it\u2019s nice to see the owner drove & enjoyed the car. Great car in warm weather also since no heat from the rear engine & good air flow into the car. I have q 67 912 that I bought in 88. It was a real barn find. It was originally Irish green that had been painted yellow and when I got it, was still yellow with primer. I was in college and was working as an auto painter at the time. I painted it Porsche India Red. Had the chrome steelies with caps and looked exactly like this. I really like this combination but a few years later I got hold of some cookie cutters and spent a couple hundred hours hand polishing them and decided to change the color of the car. Stripped it down to bare metal and changed it to Lexus Black Jade Pearl. It looks fantastic. Really looks like it's black. I rebuilt the engine 20 years ago. Anyway, still have her almost 30 years and 20+ cars later, still my favorite. Now waiting to do the rear seal and eventually will replace the front suspension pan. These are wonderful cars.
