The starter gear had failed and the car was garaged. Also, the owner's brother who was involved in the project was ill and passed away around that time. I was always wanted to help him get it back in the road and he eventually made the decision to sell it to me. \r\n\r\nHere's some links to the back story. Sean was the owner, Jay was the brother and Hot Rod photographer. It was shaved by Brad Masterson at the old Dean Jeffries shop, which was next door to Barris Customs in Lynwood. (See attached pic) \r\n\r\nhttps://kustomrama.com/wiki/Sean_Mason%27s_1950_Ford#google_vignette\r\nhttps://kustomrama.com/wiki/Masterson_Kustom_Automobiles\r\n\r\nMy first move was to get a new battery and starter in it, replace all the fluids and do a full safety check at Dodge Brothers in Granada Hills. They are experts in vintage cars, especially Ford. Stuff on my 57 Thunderbird that requires a lift goes there when needed. \r\n\r\nI put the Offenhauser valve covers which were supplied, but not installed, and intake and Air cleaner. It came with a Weinand 8124, we did the Offy 360\u00b0 intake. NOS on eBay. I also installed an Offenhauser column mount. \r\n\r\nRather than rebuild the old carb after sitting for so long, we just went new. Put in a new Holley Street Avenger, 199RR10487-1. Has really cool windows where you can see the gas level in the floats, warrantied until next April.\r\n\r\nAlso got rid of the Mallory electronic ingnition which was a really good looking red anodized nightmare. Went for an old school distributor cap and an ignition ballast. Easy to monkey with. \r\n\r\nThe head gasket reared it's ugly head in a canyon after the lakes were installed. The mechanics told me that it was exacerbated by driving it after sitting so long. It didn't fuilly overheat, but was hotter than it should've been. They put in Mahle racing gaskets which were $$$ but I didn't plan on replacing them ever again. i don't have any pictures.\r\n\r\nWe also did a full Monty on the radiatior. The car has been driven in 100\u00b0 + heat and stays center, so the head gasket and cooling system are stout. \r\n\r\nAll in on the refresh I'm just under $11,000.00 \r\nAttached is the running tally for the receipt book the winning bidder will receive. \r\n\r\nThanks for the compliment on the additional work. \r\nI tried to carry on Sean's theme as best I could. \r\nMain change was the Cat eyes. He hates them, I love them. ;oP\r\n\r\nThe steering is good for a 74 year old car. \r\nIt rides smooth for an old car that is slightly lowered. I've only had it on the freeway a couple times and it rode fine. L.A freeways are scary in a vintage car... \r\n\r\nIt gets driven weekly and most trips are 30 to 45 min. However, no long trips, so I wouldn't want to make a misleading claim. For me it's been an around towner. \r\n\r\nThe tires are older bias ply that have held up well.
