I would like to share some additional background that interested parties may find useful. Apart from doors and trunk, I believe the car has original paint. I took readings of all panels and have photos for each reading. Rather than uploading every photo, I transferred readings to 4 slides. I am happy to upload all readings if desired. I do not know why the doors and trunk were painted; I had planned to have them resprayed by a local restoration shop I have used before. I attempted color correction with an orbital and while it came out better, someone who is more capable could achieve a much better result. Based on the paint depth readings, there appears to be plenty of original paint remaining. The true mileage is not known, and I have no service history to refer to however based on the condition of the chassis, interior, engine and suspension components, I would guess it is possible. When I purchased the car, it was missing the jack, lug wrench and original tool kit but I think with patience, these can be sourced. The car appears to be highly original apart from the conversion to electric fuel pump. I contemplated reverting to the manual pump but it runs so well I hesitated to go down that road. The engine is very healthy as you will see in the compression results. It fires up easily and idles well, it does not stall at stop lights. I had the brake master replaced and kept the original, the car stops very well. The clutch master had been changed by the previous owner and he also kept the original, they are very difficult to find and can be rebuilt if the next owner wanted to preserve the original appearance. Unlike most of the British cars I have owned, this one hardly leaks at all. There might be a dime sized drip beneath the engine after a drive and weeks of sitting in the garage. The rear differential was leaking so I had the pinion seal replaced, topped off and no leaks since. In my \u201cDash Switches\u201d video, I neglected to hit the horn button, the horn does work and is very audible. During the drive video with the BAT photographer, I heard some noise behind us and later realized it was the seatbelt buckles bouncing on the shelf tray, you can see them in one of the photos. During the photographers walkaround video, you can see how cold it was that morning by the exhaust, that is not smoke, the car does not smoke and does not burn any oil. My cold start video was also taken early morning, and the car had been sitting in the garage for a few days on a tender. During my highway cruise video, you might notice some steering wheel vibration, this happens between 60-65. I have not tried rotating the wheels to see if it might be a balance issue, I had the tires replaced and wheels balanced at the time but might need another look or rotation. Other than the door and trunk paint, the car really needs nothing. I am only selling due to our recent decision to move to North Lake Tahoe and as such, purchased a more suitable vehicle for Tahoe weather and will not have room for the Spitfire sadly. When I purchased the car, I was looking for another air-cooled Porsche but spotted this car on Craigslist Phoenix. My first car was a \u201966 Spitfire, I learned to drive in it. After owning countless British cars and many air-cooled Porsches, I have come full circle, it may just be a coincidence, but I turn 66 in March. Looks exactly like my 66 including the condition but mine has a black top. If you want to keep the original fuel pump, I suggest just replacing the diaphragm. The new fuel pumps push way too much pressure and flood the carburetors. When I replaced mine with a new one, gas started shooting out of the carburetor fuel bowl vents! I measured the pressure and it was about 10psi! Needs to be about 2 to 3 psi. So stripped the new pump and just used the diaphragm to replace the one in the original pump using the original spring. These cars are a blast to drive! I later discovered that the crankshaft would move forward about 1/2 inch when the engine was reved and the knocking would stop. I can only guess the noise was the rear most crank lobe hitting the block.
