The '69 is the simplest and lightest of the lineup with more torque than the 72 -> and makes the best case for keeping original despite the de-tuned engine relative to the injected cars, penalties at a maximum for changes thereto - so begs the question why with little to no performance gained. I will say the Toyota transmission is tough; a friend in his 9th decade flogs one of these mercilessly with his circa 230BHP supercharged ( TR6 ) engine. But the 7-speed TRIUMPH A-type O/D will take racing duty too with minor upgrades. The car does not come with a Tonneau cover\r\n\r\nTrixieracer - Regarding the waves you saw on the frame in photo #59. The car hasn't been in any accidents that I'm aware of. I had a '69' TR6 from new in 1969 and as I recall the frame had those same waves. I think it was because that's an area near a bend.\r\n\r\nTandT - The seats were not supposed to be represented as being the original TR seats covered in leather. The ad was supposed to say those seats were obtained from Moss Motors. They still show those leather seats in the Moss catalog.\r\nAs for the mirrors, again I am well aware those are not stock mirrors. The stock mirrors were rectangular in shape. Again I never meant to represent that those were original stock style mirrors. Sorry for the confusion.\r\n\r\nroverguy - The rear looking high is an optical illusion. I photographed the car sitting on a hill. \r\n\r\nmaggie70 - Sorry about the name dropping in the ad. That was at the request of my Bat advisor. I thought it was silly but he thought buyers would like to know.\r\nThe Rick Patton Trailing Arm kit allows for the addition of inserts to be used to replace the threads in the aluminum trailing arm. There are 6 bolts per axle that hold the axle to the trailing arm. These bolts tend to strip out. In the worst case scenario, if they let go you lose the rear wheel.\r\n\r\nMcTech - The 5-speed Toyota transmission lowers the RPM at 70mph by about 500 rpm.\r\nWhile driving the car cross country I was able to see between 30 and 32 mpg. I believe lowering my rpm at speed helped. It also doesn't hurt to have the engine running at lower rpms.\r\nThe conversion was a Herman Van den Akker kit.
