He wasn't so much into automotive maintenance, or even into opening the hood on a car. I was the one everybody called when they had an automotive problem. So one day his Toyota quits running, and I get a call. Later, when I looked at it, I noticed a few things. Virtually no oil in the crankcase, cooling system had a leak and was all but dry, but what shut the car down, was somehow the fuel pump bolts had loosened and the pump had backed out enough to quit pumping. And to let the oil all leak out. Lack of fuel flow is what shut it down though. bolted up the pump, filled the radiator, tightened a loose hose, and filled the crankcase with a gallon of used oil from an anti freeze jug in the trunk of my car. She started right up and ran fine. I don't remember him ever doing anything to it after that. It just kept running, and running, and running. It has to be one of the most absolute bullet proof cars in the world. I still think that a 20R-22R engine and 5-speed would be great - I'm not talking some high-power later engine, though the twin-cam from that Corolla would sure be nice! I'm all for doing the swap in the parts car, but I would need additional photos - I wouldn't actually swap the Beige car, I like originality too much.\r\n\r\nAs for the result, I'd say that this was a fair price.
