I also have a custom vintage-style luggage rack that is included in the sale. the luggage rack looks great and the aloha racks are better for surfboards. Fun story, the luggage rack was made in Orange County by a guy who made them in his garage. When I drove up to pick up my new rack, he had the ROOF ONLY of 3 cars on his front lawn to make templates from so they fit. A squareback and two different years of busses I think. As in he *sawed off* the roof of three VWs from junkyards and installed them in his front lawn to template from. Mine had 914 wheels, Koni shocks, headers and some other tweaks. Would legit do 100, but a roof rack might steal 10 mph and 2 mpg! A huge upgrade from a Bug, sad that so few have survived. Never understood replacing the FI unit. It was pretty easy to diagnose issues, just bring out the trouble light and track the wiring until you find the dead relay and occasionally replace a leaky injector. The one problem that tricked me was there are a set of contact points in the base of the distributor that control the system. Had to take it to the dealer to fix that.
