(Claret is listed as a red maroon) There is no mention of Carmine red. I have seen many references to Carmine red on both XK150's and other models. Looking at photos it appears that Carmen Red is a brighter red with a little orange tint. Carmine Red was a red with a little purple tint. I have heard that Carmen red was used for cars destined for North America. If you had three cars lined up painted Claret, Maroon, or Imperial Maroon, the Claret car would be the lightest and the car painted in Imperial Maroon would be the darkest, almost with a mix of brown. All judging sheets in the gallery show the color as Claret and we never had an inconsistency or judge mark it as incorrect.
