Why put so much time and money into this worthy car and not bother to have the front seats rebuilt? After 18 years, the foam in the seats is usually tired, even if the fabric is still intact. Nasty old seats make long trips unpleasant and it's hard to admire a car when the owner doesn't think enough of it to repair the seats.\r\n\r\nThat being said, seat rebuilding isn't cheap, but the seats do come out easily. So it's not a hard repair and the car is worth it. Who ever gets this E30 will probably get Some great value. These cars are still going cheap at a time when 911s have gone up in price like a moon shot. Even 944s and 924s and starting to climb in value. Neither Porsche is nicer than these E30s. I've spend dozens and dozens of hours on forums and ebay trying to source cloth-the Acilntra (sp?) can be found for $100 a yard but the other styles of cloth (mine is a charcoal gray cloth-in Herringbone style) is simply not available. I've found something semi close from a mill in India and just ran out of enthusiasm and it was close but not that close. \r\n\r\nThese are \"comfort\" seats-not sport and are normally found in vinyl. Sport (IS and optional) were available in cloth-around 8 choices, vinyl about 5 choices and leather about 5 choices) for getting the interiors right is actually hard. My interior panels were mint as the rest of the trim. I found very very clean rear seats and I'll go with leather on my to be redone seats. Mine will be a DD and not a trailer queen so I can live with the differences fore and aft and I expect to keep the redone IS for a very long time. I still look on ebay and CL for replacement seats but in 3 years of looking several times a month or more, I've never found a correct replacement that was used. Maxmillion was the best OEM fabric source for a long while but they are OOS now.
