What I remember the most is chasing an oil leak at the front of the engine. Initially thought it was a valve cover and attempted a repair twice (so I got real fast at pulling the intake manifolds). Ultimately, I traced the large lead to a failed timing chain cover. Let me tell you removing the cover on the V-12 is not walk in the park. Also remember replacing the brake and suspension accumulators very often. Finally, most of the E32's suffered from weak HVAC stepper motor mounts. The plastic mounts would break and the HVAC doors would not close/open properly. Not an easy fix. \r\n\r\nOther than that, I enjoyed the car. It is not unusual for these V-12s to have an oil leak, which is why we replaced both valve cover gaskets and the lower pan gasket. She still has a slight leak (some fun for the new owner), and we think it is coming from the upper pan gasket (because that is the only thing we didn't replace). The engine was surprisingly simple to dismantle for the gasket repairs. While we were in there, we changed all the plugs (We did this after our initial purchase. This was our second time for this because we had easy access this time), and we reconditioned the valve covers (as pictured in the photo gallery). The brake accumulator (as mentioned in the BAT write up) will need replacing. We were going to do it when it was last at GP Auto, but the part was not available then. The HVAC works really well, and when compared with new cars it blows much hotter in the winter and way colder in the winter. Be well! A: Definitely not jarring. It is firm, which I like, but smooth over speed bumps, and quite smooth over highway potholes (there is a stretch of route 70 in my area that is a bridge with numerous potholes and she glides right over it).\r\n2) Q: Springs replaced? A: Yes, please check my spreadsheet in the gallery (#180 of 194), as it shows them being replaced on 07/03/2014.\r\n3) Q: I would imagine the SLS shocks were discarded? A: Yes, sort of. My original mechanic closed his shop and moved away without my being able to get in touch with him to see if he still had them.\r\n4) Q: Does it have the remote locking master keys? A: Yes, one of the two switchblades. One was accidentally destroyed while with my original mechanic. I also have one \"regular\" key (see picture below). They both go with the car to the new owner.\r\n5) Tape Deck and CD Changer operate? A: Tape Deck, no regrettably. I just went out to try and play \"Commodores: Greatest Hits\" and was disappointed that it did not work. It sounded like it wanted to, but it did not play. The radio did switch over from radio to cassette, and I could hear some gears whirring, but no sound. The CD changer mounted in the truck works just fine.\r\n6) Q: All 4 seat adjustments fully function? A: Yes, all front seat adjustments work, and the rear seats decline and the head rests raise and lower.\r\n7) Q: Heated Seats work? A: Yes, unfortunately. My wife loves them, but I am 6'5\" and 240 lbs., so I generate enough heat. When I originally bought the car, I must have accidentally been playing with the switch, and it took me the longest time to figure out why it seemed so hot that I was sweating bullets in the spring!\r\n8) Q: Seat belt anchors operate with all seats? A: Yes, front and rear\r\n9) All HVAC modes work? A: Yes, I just tried them all out this morning on a short ride, and the heat gets unbearably hot (again, which my wife loves) while the A/C gets freezing cold (which I love!)\r\n10) Q: Blower motor or wiper linkage squeaking? A: No squeaks, I used the blower today on my short drive and used the wipers to test one of your other questions, and there was no squeaking in either case.\r\n11) Headlamp and Foglamp washers work? A: No. I am embarrassed to say that when you asked this I had no idea what the answer was and actually had to go and check. The car has been in the rain no more than a handful of times while I've owned it, and has never been driven in the snow so I never really used the windshield washers. I did confirm that they put fluid on the windshield, but nothing came out of the sprayers for the headlamps or foglamps. I put some fluid in the headlamp/foglamp reservoir (the car has three reservoirs, a main, a runoff, and the one for the headlamps/foglamps), and noticed that it (the one for the headlamps/foglamps) leaks. The main and runoff hold fluid just fine however.\r\n12) Q: How far back do the records go? A: I have my receipts (which I will be happy to give to the new owner) back to my purchase in 2014. I wanted to have all of the receipts from the original sale, and so I reached out to the original owner (I am the second owner). They graciously (it may have been the owner's power of attorney because the owner was up in age) signed a letter I wrote to Union Park BMW authorizing them to release all of the receipts from new, but the dealership's service department (on a couple of occasions) told me that they would not release the receipts to me even with the original owner's authorization.\r\n13) Q: Any service to the transmission (fluid changed)? A: No. my mechanic told me that he didn't think it was necessary, but she is probably to the point where it would be a good idea to change the fluid. We've never had any transmission issues.\r\n14) Q: Drive-shaft shimmy under medium-heavy acceleration? A: No, and thank you for this question! A: Yes, and to address what you said about the right side appearing to be dim, they do appear to be slightly less bright than the rest of the screen, but they have always been that way. A: I think it is fully shut, but there is a Bel radar detector in there that could possibly be keeping it open a bit. \r\n19) Q: How intact/flush are inner door seals (B-pillar top corners)? A: Very intact/flush. In addition, the rubber around the doors is still very pliable, and when the doors close, you can tell the difference from a car made by BMW in 1990, vs a car made by anyone else nowadays. A: No to panel replacement, and no to other accidents (I can only speak with certainty during my ownership, but the gentleman who sold me the car is a friend of the original owner and he told me there weren't any accidents during their ownership either).\r\n21) Looks like a larger gap between left fender and hood vs right fender and hood viewed from front? If the price goes to maybe 10 grand with fees, knowing that the LAD needs fixing if you want, and the upper oil pan gasket needs replacing as well as whatever your mechanic finds when he takes the few days to get this work done, you might have another five thousand to spend to make this car perfect. With this millage and the car completely in tact there's just nothing out there that drives and handles like this car anywhere. I mean, you can't buy a new Honda Civic today for less than 22 thousand unless you want crank windows. This car is barely broken in. You just need to get it into your head from day one there's going to be a few thousand dollars to spend probably twice. If you're willing and this car can be had for under 10, I would just go for it.
