I actually flew from Atlanta to Philadelphia to check this car out. I ended up driving it home. Other than the paint job, it was in such good mechanical shape that I haven't had to much to it in my ownership. Not long after buying it I even drove it 1500 miles to the 12 hours of Sebring. \r\n\r\nA few notes: the ABS isnt functioning. It needs a new rear sensor but it is unavailable. The new owner will have to repair its existing sensor. There are write ups on the net on how to do this. \r\n\r\nThe front speakers have recently stopped working. I think the Clarion head unit is the problem.\r\n\r\nThe windshield is new. The original had the Sekurit safety coating (a 928 option) but it was in such poor shape that we replaced it with a new windshield.\r\n\r\nThis car is seriously fast, 90mph-110mph happens really quickly. Dont ask how I know that.\r\n\r\nThe original alarm system has been disabled/bypassed. \r\n\r\nA sharp eye will notice that the original undertray is missing. They are rare now, although I have seen evidence of an aftermarket replica in preproduction. \r\n\r\nHere is the biggy: PAY ATTENTION HERE: The car has essentially been defederalized. You will notice it has no side marker lamps or reflectors. If your state requires inspections, know the laws in your area. Georgia is very loose with safety/inspections, so I had no problem with having the quarterpanels welded closed again.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for checking out the car. There is no other 928 that has the personality of the 85 Euro, with its high compression motor and aggressive cams. The sound is oh so delicious and the free breathing, free revving 2 cam motor screams all the way to red line, which I like to treat myself to often. I believe this came from the factory with a 2.73 rear axle (so there may be a typo in the listing) and it makes a huge difference in how the car feels off the line when compared to the more docile feeling of the 2.20 most US spec cars have. Sure, the motor turns a little faster at 80, but that only helps you enjoy the sounds of that wonderful German symphony. Many of the 84 Euros were reportedbly built with leftover pistons, making the 85 the one to get. They are hard to find in nice shape in the US. Regarding the ABS wheel sensors, Roger has sourced the fronts and I think he has the rears, but not 100% sure. Definitely worth getting the ABS working so you can haul this down as fast as it spools up. I also dropped in some Hawk HP Plus brake pads which transformed the somewhat underperforming S-brakes. My 85 Euro now stops as good as my S4. If you like the early body style, I recommend these Euros over the 86.5s all day long. On my current red 85, I am now running 18\" Carrera 3's, and they are too big - you can tell in the handling. These cars really were not designed for wheels over 17\". So next spring, I'll go to the Cup 1's, which I think are the best looking anyhow. I have a US spec '85 928S that looks mostly like this car with the Prussian blue paint although mine has a two-toned blue/tan interior. I have to agree with @linderpat on the wheels, as my car has the 18\" turbo-twists. I think the stock 16\" sized wheels with some good tires will handle as well or better than the 18 inchers and will certainly provide a more comfortable ride. Compounding the issue on my car is that the front end was lowered at least an inch or more. It makes me wince when I see a speed bump or steep driveway. If I wind up keeping the car, raising it back up to a more normal height on the front is one of my main goals. Call me perverse, but I'd even love to put a set of 16\" phone-dials on mine.\r\n\r\nAnother plus on this car is it's got the best of the 4.7 liter 16-valve non-interference engines so if you lose a timing-belt, you mutter a few expletives and replace the belt. On my 5.0 liter 32-valve car, it's an instant engine rebuild if you're lucky. Overall I'd rather have this car over the one I have. If it were a US spec 4.7 liter (83/84), that would be true, as the first interference motors in the US were the 32 valve 5.0 liter engines beginning in 1985. However, the high compression twin dizzy Euro engines are interference engines, so timing belt status is important. This car should be fine, though, as the job was done not that long ago. This is a sweet car. I saw it at Hershey after the refurbish was done. Someone will get a good one for sure, with many miles of worry free driving in a very quick platform. \n\nBy the way, this past weekend I did a fun run with the local cars and coffee group of which I am a member. The cars in the front of the pack, which is where I like to be, included a tricked out 996 twin turbo, a McClaren 720, a McClaren 650, an Audi R8 10 cylinder, Lambo Huracan, and Aston Martin Superlegerra. My 85 928S ran with the best of them and stayed right there through the twisties with some very aggressive back country road cruising. The only time it felt out paced was when we got on the highway, and everyone accelerated. Took awhile to catch up, but then all was good.
